Journal #4

The day is almost over. Zander found a few people who wanted to join Nova-Star. It was fun meeting other people. But it will take a while before I remember their names. It starts getting colder. It will not take long for the winter to come.

I'm so excited for the coming days. We traveled with our group to the camp where we are going to train and live for the next days. There is a big cabin with tables and a kitchen. We even have someone who cooks for us. I think her name was Isabelle. We have two cabins with beds in it. One for boys and the other for girls. And we have a cabin with showers in it and the office of the nurse, Ellen. 

 

"Hey, are you writing in your journal?" Zander asked when he saw Alyss sitting in the grass. "Yeah" Alyss said and she put her journal in her bag. Zander came to her and sat down right next to her. "Maybe it's better you go to bed. Tomorrow will be a hard day" 

Alyss looked at him and nodded. "I will" She stood up, took her bag, waved to Zander and ran to the Sleep cabin. Zander jumped on his feet and went to his bed to sleep as well.

 

 

The Next Morning~

 

Zander let the bell ring and waited for everyone to come to the square in the middle of the camp. It was 6 AM and time to train his soldiers. 

Alyss was already up when she heard the bell. The only thing she still had to do was putting on her shoes and she did while jumping to the door to go to the square. She yelled at the girl who were still in the cabin: "Hurry up, girls!" Then she went outside and joined Zander.

Inaru heard Alyss. Still half asleep she crawled out of her bed. She put her shirt and fell back in her bed "I'm too tired her this!" She said. She found her strength back and put the rest of her clothes on. She took a quick look in the mirror and brushed her hair for a bit. With a big yawn she opened the door. She saw Zander and Alyss standing there. She walked to them and stood right next to Alyss. Inaru greeted them with a "Good morning" and a smile. Still really tired but ready for this day.

Eden wasn't sure whether she was relieved or annoyed to hear Alyss's wake up call. She hadn't managed to sleep. Her eyelids had been heavy and her limbs splayed out in exhaustion, but no matter how desperately Eden wanted sleep, it wouldn't claim her. All night, every tiny thud she heard made her jump. Even the sound of crickets chirping--which she hadn't heard in a while, since plenty had been killed during the bombing--reminded her of that day. She stumbled out of bed and reached for her clothes. Eden kept herself awake with distractions. She pulled on her new uniform slowly. They would train for sure, and Eden wasn't sure she'd be able to keep up. Lack of sleep could cause a person to go insane, and at three days without sleep, Eden was probably verging on crazy. She didn't bother glancing in the mirror. She could already imagine how she looked. Rubbing the sleep out of her eyes, she emerged from the cabin and joined the others that were already huddling together. "Morning, guys." 

"Morning!" Said Walter . He felt a bit scared. He was a social person, but you could never be too cautious. But then again, meeting a new person, new PEOPLE with powers... Maybe he could belong... Right Ender

-I guess-

Ender was still suspicious.

Hazimie waked up after hearing a bell that has been ringing."It's morning..."Hazimie said as he get up and get himself ready.It's been a week since he joined the Nova Star,after the incidents of the raining bombs.Before Hazimie went out,he take his sword that has been put under the bed."I can't leave this behind..."Hazimie said as he went out of the cabin,carrying a sword with him.Then,he met Walter whose socially greeting to other people,and Zander,the Leader of the Nova Star as he approaching them...

"Good morning everyone" Zander said with a smile on his face. "Today I'm going to train you. First we're going to explore this area. That will be a long walk so don't fall behind or you will get lost. Then, if we get back here, we will test your condition and your strength. You will see what what we are going to do then." His smile disappeared for a second but returned again. "Right, before we leave... Does any of you know how to handle guns, grenades, other weapons? Except for Hazimie?"

Zander was curious. He wanted to know how many things he had to learn this people before they could fight. But he had one problem. He had not a lot of time. I hope these 'kids' are good students and quick learners... He thought. 

 

Alyss her energy disappeared quickly. She shook her head. The first time she held a gun was when she was with Zander searching for new members. But she didn't have to shoot back then. So she didn't have any experience. And Alyss was not that sportive. So the tests would be horrible too. I'm so dead! She thought.

Walter knew how to handle weapons, his days as a lab rat taught him that much. He followed behind Zander, senses hightend .

As Hazimie have heard of Zander's speech,he began to follow Zander from behind as he then approach Zander."Zander,tell me....you have already plan some 'things' on this training,am i right?...."Hazimie asked if he said is true since he thinks that just by walking and test each of member's strength was odd so he maybe thinks that there was other things that has in stored on this training...

"Well yeah. You heard everything right? Or do you have other questions?" Zander thought about the things he said. Did he forgot to say something."You are in the army now. You have to train your body, right? You can't always rely on your power." He said giving a sign to the others that they should follow him. Then he left the camp and entered a forest. Alyss was right behind him.

"Maybe,but sometimes power was the key to train our bodies.....that's what i learn during my previous travels..."Hazimie said as he want to say that power was also an important part for the members of Nova Star.Then,he take a look again on his sword,reminded about his past that he was once a soldier for the government and his title as "Sword-wielding Soldier" but he have to put it behind him right now."No,not now....not today..."Hazimie said as he finish looking at his sword,talking to himself...

"Hazimie, this is just the first day" Zander said with a smile. They were walking further and further in the forest. "We will train with our power soon, if that's what you want" He stoped for a second and turned to his group. "We have to climb a bit now. So help each other please!" He started climbing leaving the others under him.

"Right," he turned to Alyss. "I'll boost you up!"

Alyss stared to Walter, turning red and then said: "Thank you!" With a big smile on her face and with the help of Walter she climbed up. When she reached the top with Walter she said 'Thanks' again.

Zander was not waiting fo the others. He warned them. But this was just the first day and they were not in form. So he waited nodded to Alyss and Walter because they were the first one to reach the top. Zander took two packs of food out of his bag and threw it to Walter and Alyss. "Here, you deserve it" He said.

Still really happy that Walter helped her she catched the the pack. "Great! I'm starving!" Alyss said while opening the pack and took a piece of bread.

Walter blushed. "I am as well..."

-ooh, you like her, don't you?-

Ender was right. He wondered that it was because he had not been around girls most of his life. But she was beautiful. "Y-You want some of my food, S-since you look hungrier."

Alyss looked at his food "Are you sure about that?" She asked. While taking an other piece of her bread. Alyss thought Walter was kinda cute. She stared to the ground. Not really knowing how to act with him. So she just looked up and smiled.

 

Zander stared to the two. Where they in love? That could become interesting. He took his own food while he was looking to the edge to see if there was anyone else who made it to the top. But still no one.

"Yea..." He gave her his lunch. "I don't eat much. It was part of my training in the army..." He smiled. "My name is Walter, w-what's yours?"

-damn, you are so awkward-

(Lol, trying to write a romance subplot with my char for the first time.)

She took the food and started eating it. "My name is Alyss. Nice to meet you" She said. "Thanks for the food!" She liked this boy. He was so kind. "So what is your power?" She asked curious. This boy would be the first friend she made.

"Energy manipulation..." He created a ball of bright light. "It's powerful, but I promise never to hurt anyone with it..." Walter could not think himself a killer. That was Enders thing. Oh my god! What if she learned about him! She would never like him. No one ever looked at Walter for who he was after they saw Ender. She would see him as a monster.

"Never hurt anyone? But you are in the army? And It's war! I'm afraid that you have to kill" Alyss waited for a second. Why did Walter join the army if he didn't want to hurt people? Alyss wanted to know his story. She wanted to know about his life. But she didn't want to ask him this stuff. It was too personal. If he wanted to tell Alyss something. She would listen to it. And accept him. We are all strange after all.

"I could injure them, but I won't kill." Walter looked at Alyss, dead in her eyes. "It is a promise I made to myself." He blushed "I want-I could tell you if you want." She seemed like someone he could trust. That is what you do with a person you love, right?

-Who are you asking?-

"I'm not going to say that you have to tell me things you don't want to tell other people. "Alyss's face turned really serious. "It's your own discission. Just know that when you need someone to listen to you. I will always be ready". Her smile returned. She finished her food and walked to a tree that fell down. She sat on it and then waved to Walter so he would join her.

"R-right!" Said Walter, and followed her. "Why are you here? I mean, why did you sign up?" He felt a connection already!

-nerd-

Regardless, Alyss was someone he could trust. He would tell her after this mission... Was he rushing it? No. Someone needed to know.

Alyss's eyes turned cold. "Revenge" she said "I am going to kill them. One for one. And I had nowhere else to go" She was thinging about her mom, who probably exploded with the bombs."I guess the most here do have this kind of story. Alyss looked at him, now a bit sad.

"That settles it." He smiled. "After this mission, we have to exchange stories." He smiled. "Keeping things like that inside don't kill you, but they do rot you from the inside out." He grabbed her hand. "Maybe at lunch..."

-god, you at like a romantic on fast forward...-

Alyss really didn't know what to do now. She slowly nodded to him. Not really sure If she really wanted to. Was this some kind of date? She was nervous and excited at the same time. This was the first time something like that happened to her. And she didn't know how to act, or what to say. So she just smiled while she was swinging with her legs. She probably looked like a little girl now. But she didn't care. Only Zander and Walter were able to see it.

-well, I'll be damned. It worked?-

"Okay, so what dose the rest of the mission entail?" Walter said. He looked at Zander. He could only imagine what he was thinking. But all that matterd to him was finishing the mission, so he could get his true prize.
