A Wii U price cut confirmed:Deluxe Model is now 299$ with Wind Waker Bundle

Posted

Nintendo has announced that the Wii U will be receiving a price drop. Starting on September 20, the Deluxe system will be available for $50 less – $299.99.

Nintendo has additionally confirmed Zelda: Wind Waker HD’s Wii U bundle. Launching on September 20, it’ll include a black Deluxe Wii U console; a GamePad controller adorned with gold lettering, a gold Hyrule crest and gold symbols from the game; a download code for the digital version of Hyrule Historia, a book that details the chronology, history and artwork of The Legend of Zelda series; and a code that can be used to download The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD from the Nintendo eShop immediately at no additional cost.

Zelda: Wind Waker HD will be available as a download on September 20. The full retail game launches on October 4 with distinctive gold-foil packaging. Both are priced at $49.99. GameStop will be handing out an exclusive Ganondorf figurine for $54.99

I knew this is gonna happen, they cut the price of the 3DS before and they're doing it now

That can boost the sales tremendously especially in Christmas when all the new releases are available in store

This was a big firetruck you to the face to those who brought it at release day. Here I'm happily about to order WW HD and this happens. (I'm more sad I wasted an extra 50 bucks for nothing)

I doubt they'll even do an ambassador program for us. >_>

I hope people don't complain about the price now. 300$ is good enough.

It's a move that needed to happenthe 3DS got it's price cut at the same period of time in 2011 so this is pretty much expected if you asked meAt least, the system now is 100$ less than Ps4 and 200$ less than Xbox OneWill someone please look at this news instead of freaking out for the 2DS?

I'd agree if Nintendo a few months ago wasn't all like "it doesn't need a price cut."

Oh yeah the 2DS... *goes to other thread*

Well,if they've announced the price cut beforehand

Microsoft or Sony could've responded with a price cut for their console....or that's what I'm thinking at least

It was the same situation with the 3DS and Vita 2 years ago

Your extra $50 wasn't wasted, it's a trade-off between time & money. By paying more you got to play a Wii U earlier, by paying less you'd have to wait.

Of course my personal policy is that it's stupid to buy a new system any sooner than it's 1st anniversary, it takes time for all consoles to build up their libraries & there's always the possibility of a price drop by then. If you buy at launch then you should be doing it knowing full well the sacrifices you're making for the sake of playing ASAP.

Also, let's not forget the old saying of:

NEVER buy a console at launch

I bought my Wii U 6 months after it's release and I never regretted that

Same goes for me for my Ps4 purchase

I'll wait until FFXV and KH3 comes out before purchasing a Ps4...but that means I'll wait for 1 or 2 years before getting a Ps4

That's the problem. Previous systems didn't get a price drop or even bundles till a few years later. Sure the Wii U needs the price drop, but I among others feel like we wasted money because not only are they getting the game with it, but even the book.

I expected the price drop to happen sometime next year, since Nintendo claimed from late 2013 to 2014, they expect a rise in sale of Wii U's due to the good amount of games coming in those dates. Then what ticked me off a bit is that they repeatedly said that they're not doing a price drop anytime soon. I suppose soon for them was little time.

Anyways I'ma have my Wii U collect dust, as school is coming for my brothers. That means no time for random Nintendo Land activities. I'm still going for WW HD, but not on October; X Y will keep me too busy.

The price cut was needed as soon as possible

The same thing was done for 3DS,back in 2011 they said countless times they won't cut the price of the 3DS....only for them to cut it later on.I bought my Wii U 3 months before this price cut but I was expecting it to happen just like the 3DS

Also, don't forget that the release of Ps4 and Xbox One is near so they need to cut the price for the holiday season before those two get released

Anyway,I hope that they might do an ambassador program like what they did with the 3DS....but this time for GameCube games instead of GBA games ^_^

That's what I'm hoping for; ambassador 2.0. It would make my day.

Called this when the white Premium Wii U was announced for Japan awhile ago.

Hope it manages to boost some sales.

We can do a petition to demand an ambassador program

Yeah I know change.org has been abused to death for every reason we can think of

But we can try

should i sell my basic fo' this while i can still get a pretty good amount of money from it?

I was thinking the same to get the WW bundle o_O

I just called gamestop, you can get 130 in store credit for the basic model. I think i might just save up to get it and sell my basic. How would i transfer my game saves?

I want the bundle, but I want a physical copy of the game as I do really enjoy boxart and disc art. xP Why must there be tough choices to make now? DX
