Mystics Apprentice 2,397 Posted March 16, 2013 I've had the same 15" TV for, well, let's just say a very long time. It's a Sony Trinitron and it works great. I've loved it until I purchased a PS3, and now I'm seriously getting tired of it. It obviously doesn't have HD, but it only has one speaker; I prefer to wear earphones when playing simply because it gets annoying. But the main problem is that with the PS3 it's nearly impossible to read lines of text in games because it's so distorted. So, after checking out prices and seeing how affordable TVs are, I think it's time to say goodbye to the one I have and get something new. Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm not looking for anything real large, maybe a 23", and I'm hoping to keep the price under $200, if possible. Are there any particular brands that I should really steer clear of that have a reputation of dying? I love Sony, but the price is...eh.... I'm kind of hoping to avoid that one, if I can find something else worth getting. Like I said, it doesn't have to be perfect; I can make do with a few bad qualities, but just something that I know will hold up for a good handful of years. TwiliLord 232 Posted March 16, 2013 This was my former Panasonic TV that I gave to my cousin (still works after like 7 years!): 32'', HD LCD tv, has 2 HDMI ports, 1 component, 2 composites, SD card slot, PC input, and digital audio out. Pretty much everything you need. Mine goes up to 1080p, but some models only go up to 720, so watch for that. Highly recommend it. It seems its ~$320 on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Panasonic-TC-L32C22-32-Inch-720p-HDTV/dp/B0038KP3JW Maybe you can find a better deal elsewhere. If not, find another Panasonic; they're all decent for what you need and relatively affordable. 1 Mystics Apprentice reacted to this
Sora96 17,256 Posted March 16, 2013 You're not going to get a good TV for that price range. You really need to pay at least $400 to get anything good. 23" is small. I'd recommend 32". Also you have to keep note of how many HDMI ports it has. I always go with Panasonic for TVs. They're amazing! 1 Mystics Apprentice reacted to this

It'll go soon Uh...thanks, guys; but I think I'm going to pass on both of these for now. They're--okay, let's just say that even if I could afford one of these grand pieces I'd never find the place to put it, haha! You're not going to get a good TV for that price range. They're amazing! I do agree with you, Sora96, and I wish I could do as you're saying. The problem is I'm looking to place this in my bedroom, and my storage space is limited. I want to have room for the TV and gaming equipment on my TV stand, which will be pushing it with even the 23". My friend has a 32" that I've been able to reference to, but I feel it's bigger than what I'm looking for. Note that I'm coming from a 15" screen, lol, so anything bigger than that will feel huge to me. Let alone if it's in HD (which I'll only need the 1 port for). I do love Panasonic, though, so it's something that I'll consider. Perhaps I should set this replacement dream aside until I've gathered up the extra funds... It's just...eh... Okay, I'll be completely honest: I'm not playing Epic Mickey 2 simply because it's literally impossible to read the text. I'm not kidding; it's that bad. I've been looking at TVs and comparing some prices, and it looks like I could get a Samsung for a pretty reasonable sum. I've definitely decided to go with a 1080p instead of the 720p, just because I feel it's worth it to get the clearer picture. I'm not too picky about the sound; it doesn't have to be spectacular. It's going into a relatively small bedroom anyway, so I figure it doesn't need to be perfect. Just functional and reliable. 1 TwiliLord reacted to this
Hei 3,233 Posted March 16, 2013 Horrible TV. And Viso isn't that good. I think it's good, but extremely unnecessary and Viso is alright, a friend of mine has one and it's pretty decent. Not to pricey as well

TwiliLord 232 Posted March 16, 2013 (edited) I think you might like this one. It's an LED 1080p Samsung 22''. Has everything you need and it's priced $220. Good reviews too. Thanks for looking around for me. I found it for $189 on BestBuy, which seems like a pretty good deal from what I can tell. Walmart supposedly has some for $148 that are 23" and 1080p of a different brand (Sceptre, I believe), but I'm just reluctant to believe that's worth purchasing. But, then again, I generally steer clear of Walmart when possible. I suppose you could say I don't trust their stuff very much. I generally don't like when non-electronic stores sell electronics (too untrustworthy), and Walmart's really made for general goods anyway lol. kalnet 1,198 Posted March 16, 2013 I recommend either Samsung or LG. Sony tend to be overprice, well at least from where I live anyway. and I recommend what TwiliLord recommended. I had a Samsung TV at that size a few years back and it fits nicely on my computer table but it was 720p for me. It is clear at least. I set up my computer speaker into it and works like a charm. Go get it. You won't regret it. 2 Mystics Apprentice and TwiliLord reacted to this
Amon 4,279 Posted March 16, 2013 As far as brands go, I have a few tips. My family has had a Samsung for 3 or 4 years now, with absolutely no problems whatsoever. We've also had a Sony for 2 or 3 years with no major issues. The Sony TV has some whacky sound issues at higher volumes. It's not bad but that's the only issue. I guess they do this to make you buy their speaker systems. I mostly use the Sony and I can say it's very good. We've even moved it around a few times and it's still working so it appears to be pretty durable. 1 Mystics Apprentice reacted to this

Mystics Apprentice 2,397 Posted March 17, 2013 (edited) Can I have your old tv? Well, I would, but I'm afraid my brothers already beat you to it; sorry. Edit: Just wanted to say that I've got a 22" LED 1080p Samsung coming my way in the mail with a sweet HDMI cable. Thanks for all your help, guys! It made my decision much easier.
