Nomura gave them a costume change later in production, but those costumes are important to the plot!
And yet, beforehand, he even said that them being in their KH1 forms was 'vital to the plot'

but why the change/..how do they affect the story?...or is it bcs in KH2 outfitis they don'y have the sigil???

They are in their kh1 forms ... just with different cloths.

I don't get what being younger had to do with the plot, why couldn't sora and Riku have their appearance from KH2 but with the clothes nomura wanted with the sigil and dream eater symbol

maybe it is bcs in that form they have no knowledge of the keyblade...yen sid said that they must remaster everything they knew of the keyblade so to do this they must do it from the first time they encountered the keyblade...I think so

Nomura was still going to put a big X on Sora's KH1 outfit and a spirit symbol on Riku's KH1 outfit?

Sora: Hey, what's this big X on my shirt? Oh well......where's Riku?

Riku: *Doesn't notice symbol on back for obvious reasons*

It becomes clear why when you play the game why they're younger. It's sort of a mind firetruck. I'd say why, but I don't know how to make a spoilers tag

I've beaten the game but I'm still not sure why they just cant be in their older form

But the dream is set back during when the Destiny Islands where being consumed by Darkness, so Sora and Riku both are back to their KH1 ages. (14 & 15)
It's seriously not that complicated people. Nor is it that important.
On the OP though, I guess the plot point of the outfits just wasn't there or thouht up yet. I do kinda like Soras outfit. Hell, I like Rikus outfit too, but it would've been cool to have Riku in his KH1 clothes. (I hate Sora's original outfit)

They had to forget everything they knew about the keyblade they first learned about it back when they were younger

Yeah. It's not Yen Sids fault that these guys (and Kairi) aged 5 years withen 1.

if they would have gotten back in time then DI would have been destoryed,bcs events of the past cannot be changed and the fight with Ursula wouldn't happen and even Sora wouldn't have said "You again" or smth like that...so he remembers her and even says "is this the test?"....it's a dream not a travel in the past
