Lu Xun's guide to defeat Julius

Posted

Hey guys. So, as I just posted in a status, I just beat Julius with Riku less than an hour ago. And I'd like to share what I did so you can at least try to obtain Ultima Weapon, which is truly a nice Keyblade. The battle theme is also great, considering it comes from old good KHII battles.

Let's get to the main point then.

Well, I'm playing on Proud Mode, and Riku is at level 46.

Commands I used:

Ballonga

Ballonga

Dark Firaga

Curaga

Curaga

Cura

Ballon

Vanish(seems foolish, but can 'protect' you from some of Julius' attacks if you dodge just one time, which consequently gives you some time to heal yourself)

Keyblade used: Counterpoint

Dream Eaters used: Meowjesty, R & R Seal and Pegaslick. (This doesn't matter much, just try to select all Dream Eaters you have the most unlocked abilities.)

*Have Once More and Second Chance. Also, you need Magic Haste and Defense Boost. (they help a lot)

**Battle**

-During its first minutes, it's not hard. Just dodge or block every attack he makes. Look for an opening and use Ballonga and the other commands as much as possible. Never forget to Heal youself (cura is there because it reloads faster, and will save you from dying thanks to Once More and Second Chance.)

-When he is down to 6 or so HP bars, he'll use Lightning attacks. At first, when some lighting 'follow' you, just block, and you'll be safe from harm. He'll be more powerful for a while, but keep our old strategy, dodge, block, and send Ballongas.

-Some time after, he'll lose that extra power. You need to deal as much damage as possible to take him down before he can use Lighting again, but if you don't, just do everything you did before.

-Julius has an attack in which he jumps to the buildings and falls directly on you -- just use flowmotion. (I used Ballonga once, and it worked, but I'm not sure if it works while he's in his Lighting Mode, but give it a try.)

So yeah, that was my strategy for defeating him with Riku. I hope this can help you guys, even if just a little. As soon as I beat him with Sora, I'll update this thread as soon as possible with how I've done it.

Feel free to post your own methods of defeating him as well. After all, the point of this Guide is to help everyone finish the game, defeat every boss, and collect everything. Personally, I didn't find Julius to be such a hard secret boss, but I advice you to get at least to level 50 before trying to beat him. You can also refight him as many times as you desire.

Good Luck! :)

balloons. balloons everywhere

Just defeated him in Critical, and my deck was: Curaga x2, Dark Firaga, the rest all Balloonga. Dark Roll equipped and Abilities were HP Up maximized, Magic Haste maximized and two Water Boost. Basically I just did a hit-and-run and prayed (LOL), managed it on the second try.

Icebreaker, Shadowbreaker and Spark Dive worked great.

Though I suggest beating all secret Portals and getting those HP boosts before taking him on, plus it gets you the Unbound Keyblade :D

I will try this but first I need to level up more thanks Lu Xun! ^-^

After i got the unbond keyblade i faced juiles again and i used a comand deck of x2 meator crush x2 dark firaga and x2 curaga and he was easy meator crush did like 3 bars of damage and of corse i hadd attack boost and fire boost on me and was lvl 99:P

Can you re-battle Julius?

Also hot damn, level 99? That's not even giving the poor guy a chance to fight back.

yea just go back to the main hole were you last saw him at and hit examine

How do you get the Balloonga command? My strategy guide doesn't say, and I've already beat the main story. I'm still trying to unlock the Secret Message AND beat Julius.

Firaga Burst works great, even though you're vulnerable, the fireball will continue to deploy the mini homing fireballs even if you're hit, and it easily takes out 1-2 of his HP bars per use.

Wait, where do you get the Vanish command?

I don't need any 'strategy', just tell me how to avoid his dang roof-to-butt-stomp attack that locks out my commands.

The strategy I used with Riku is used the same dodge strategy you did, but I used balloonga, curaga, balloonga, curaga, balloonga, balloonra, cura, dark firaga. Balloonra is used for staggering Julius when he gets close after you counter attack. Dark roll helps cause you can distance between you and Julius. You can also use balloonga kinda like a trap. Cast it and lead Julius into it. Yes I know it homes in him, sometimes he will run past it and it will pop but the smaller balloons will sit there. As far as guarding goes, use dark barrier. You can spam this more than you can with a normal block.

Just beat him with Sora, proud, on my second try. Compared to past secret bosses he really comes up short, YMX is a lot harder than him in both games. I used ars arcanum sonic blade faith and two curagas. Arcs is good after he does his falling over attack for a good health bar off and faith seems to stun him in addition to being another source of healing but any long and involved moves should probably be kept to a minimum. I also spammed sliding block/steep climb for a lot of cheap damage. I still think they should've gone with a Reaper. But oh well...

Just Beat Julian Twice!!! Lv 56 with both.

SUPER GLIDE!!! You can outrun all of Julian's attacks with super guide. He will NEVER hit you in his 'charged' phase. Riku doesn't get this, but Riku has Dark barrier. I have much easier blocking with that on.

Firega Burst did about 1 Full Bar of HP. I had 3 Magic Boost and 3 Fire Boost. With 2 Fire Boost, Firega does more damage than Mega Flare, and you can pack more Firega with you.

Meteor Crash held be back for so long, Firega Burst NEVER got interupted, but Meteor Crash almost always did. They did do simular damage when they did hit, though.

Also, DISABLE Arial Recovery, Payback Blast, Shadow Step, and anything else that uses the Y button. It makes it harder to block and slide roll, because somethimes those other actions activate instead.
