In response to the Christian thread. I have nothing against you guys, but I figure it might be a good idea to have the other end of the spectrum so you guys don't get flamed. Speaking of which, if you are religious please don't flame this thread and those of you who are on this thread please don't flame the other one.

I'm Agnostic :P There's not actually really any proof of a god or a devil the bible in my opinion at least is just a book written by fools trying to make the world believe in something that may not exist or does not exist :P

My beliefs in a nutshell, this is taken from when an overly religious person asked me what I believed in on facebook via pm.

Well as an atheist I don't believe there is a god(that's kinda the definition of atheism) and that most phenomenon can be explain scientifically and if they can't it's not really a big deal, it's part of what makes our planet amazing. I mean when you think about it how everything is set-up and how everything is connected, it's amazing that more things don't go wrong.

I don't really think there is an all-around applies to everyone purpose to life. You make your own purpose.

I also believe that you should treat other people fairly. We're all on this earth together and we all share it. More importantly why cause strife, it doesn't make the world a better place and you should remember that it's your world too and I don't know about you but I don't want to live in a crummy world. I kinda live by golden rule of treat others the way you want to be treated.

As for what happens after death even though I'm an atheist I kinda hope reincarnation is real. It's a better thought than when you're dead that's it.

Sorry if my thoughts seem kinda scattered.

Kingdom Hearts fan site and we´re discussing here atheism and christianity : D Hey I´m getting KhBBS and PSP in a few days who´s excited? : D

It's the personal section, it's allowed.

Yeah, I know it is, I don´t believe in any god anyways, I would say I´m rather spiritual than religious.

As long as you don't condemn me for being an atheist, I am completely fine with that. As far as I'm concerned no matter what you believe you should try to see things from the other person's perspective, as if you don't your no better than the people who criticize you for your beliefs.

I'm an atheist. I believe that religion is something that people fabricated to explain their existence and to give them hope when faced with death and other bad things of the world. The Bible was either created as a way to get people to behave in a certain manner or was created by a bunch of people who had 'dreams' about God and then Jesus was a poor b****** (not even sure if I'm allowed to say that word in that context on the site) who was created when Mary 'the virgin' did the nasty behind Joseph's back and he so wanted it to be the 'Son of God' like she said, that he had a delusional dream about an angel. And then afterwards...pretty sure a lot of parts were made up.

And my biggest reason for being an atheist comes from the part where in the Bible it says what the criteria is for heaven. Basically, it says anyone who believes in God will be forgiven of their crimes and allowed into heaven, anybody who doesn't will not be forgiven and sent to hell. Sorry, but that's basically saying if a mass murder believes in God, he'll go to heaven but a scientist who has dedicated his life to making the world a better place and succeeded but doesn't believe in God will go to hell. I can't accept that and I think from that, we could easily say the reason for our existence is to worship God. That's it.

As for life after death...I want there to be one and I think that desire inspires stuff like religion. But that being said, the idea of a heaven actually scares me more than hell. Immortality, living forever seems scary in many ways and then apparantely it's peaceful. I don't understand that, it can't be peaceful, there would be some sort of riot. Unless God is brain washing us to be happy kind people who never complain. At least in hell, you can be yourself. So, I hope for maybe becoming a ghost or something similar or perhaps rebirth. But then, nothingness is somewhat comforting in its own way. It's not like we'll actually feel the discomfort.

I ´m not condemning anyone : ) I believe in mother nature and that we should protect her and honor her not destroy which is our favorite thing to do, then I believe in evil and when I´m eating eating chocolate which means I´m kinda happy at that time I even believe there is something good in this world : ) But I know there is no god above that would tell me how to live my life and if I won´t live it his way then I´ll go to hell, no no.

Agreed, I'm actually don't regret religion coming along because before it people were doing stuff that now would be considered immoral.

I often joke that if there is a hell and I go to it, at least I'll get to see and my friends and family again.

I'm not really sure what I am. I said I was agnostic once but now I seem to have strayed from that. It's strange. I have a studious interest in mythology and religion, but I'm not a religious person. I even have a cross and Bible in my room but I hardly acknowledge them. I'm not opposed to believing in supernatural creatures and deities but I wouldn't spend my life devoted to them either. Whether there's a proper term for what I am or not, I'm happy where I am.

Gonna keep a close watch on this thread and the other one to keep flame wars from happening.

I don't know exactly what I am.
I believe in a higher being, God I guess, but I don't believe that my purpose is determined by that being and I believe in reincarnation. I don't believe in the Bible either. I don't like religion either.
I can be spiritual however, which is pretty gr8

GATHER ROUND KIDDIES IT'S STORY TIME.

This is a story that recently happened last week.

"So, you don't believe in God? No Jesus?" Nope.
"So what. You believe in Allah? You're a Muslim?" Allah and God are the same thing mom. .-.
"No they're not. Allah is Muslim. God is Catholic and Christian." They're the same person mom. Didn't they teach you that when you were in school?
"Shut your mouth and stop believing what your 'friends' are putting in your head." BUT YOU'RE DOING THE SAME THING TOO...
"Go to your room." ....OKAY THEN..?

I'm debating whether or not to put nontraditional beliefs in the title. Comments on this?
