(Possible Spoilers) Ansem Facial Structure

Posted

There really isnt a point to this post other than to state that Ansem, The seeker of Darkness has a noticeably different facial structure in Kingdom Hearts Dream Drop Distance than in any of the other games hes depicted in(i think its the nose, cant tell :P). The obvious reasons for doing this is to attempt to make him more Terra-like. Ive also noticed that they have made everyone's eyes that same color across the board when there was obvious signs before of being slightly different (either darker or lighter) between Xehanort's various forms. I think Xemnas' is slightly lighter than in KHII. Its just kind of interesting the way everything seems to being falling into place in a backwards sense since nomura hadnt planned any of this from the beginning. its also kind of humous that its fits so well despite the unorthodox approach. Attached is an Example of Xehanort's Heartless' new structure.

Edit: as an after thought maybe there are just more polygons. but eh, you get the idea.

Yeah, you are right about Nomura didn't plan everything out before the very beginning, but thank god, there's only few noticeable differences.. I still don't understand how Terranort --> Apprentice Xehanort in terms of hair difference.. he might have used gatsby gel..

It's a different model and texture, so it looks a bit different. Same happened with almost all the characters, but most people noticed it on Ansem the most.

Yeah its almost like everyone's face got wider. Except maybe Riku. It's noticeable on Lea too.

Square Enix has improved the efficiency of their 3D modelling over the years. In previous games, they reused the KH1 model, because cutscenes he appeared in were either made with the PS2 KH engine (And thus easy to use without changing) or prerendered (As is the case with handheld games)

As of BBS, Square Enix has been revamping old models to make something a lot smnoother and more consistent. It doesn't mean anything, it's just graphical progress.

i like how characters look different. It makes game look more interesting when there is not a lot of old stuff inside

I didnt say it meant anything, i just said IF it did it would be to make him more terra-like. I did say that the post was basically meaningless as it had no bearing on anything but a fun topic just the same.
