It was hopeless. And thus, hope was lost.

Marie sat on the edge of the pool, her legs in the water. The community pool was always busy in this kind of weather, and she hated all of these people crowding her out, but... the water was just so relaxing. It always had been. Marie still wore her sunglasses, only lifting them slightly to scan the area. She didn't know any of these people personally, but she had seen them around the neighborhood. Marie slipped the shades back down, the sun's waving reflections vanishing. Marie frowned. That wasn't right. Light doesn't vanish behind sunglasses.

She took them off again; the reflections were still missing. Marie squinted, leaning forward. Was that-

A black shadow darted through the pool, its amorphous body swishing easily through the water. Marie fumbled backward, trying to get away from the edge. Her glasses fell into the pool, Marie swearing as she watched them sink to the bottom. A group of nearby teens noticed, laughing amongst themselves. One of the boys quieted them, slowly moving toward her. Marie didn't notice him, her eyes darting from her glasses to the rapidly approaching shadow. When she finally saw him, it was too late. The boy pulled his arms back, pushing up a massive wave as the shadow leapt from the pool. Marie fell back onto the cobblestone, her eyes clenched shut... but it never came.

Dry from the knees up, Marie opened her eyes slowly, shocked when she saw the frozen arch before her. It extended from the edge of the pool a good three feet over, stopping directly above her face. The shadow was trapped inside, struggling to break free. The teens, their sniggering faces wiped clean, began to move away, as did the other patrons of the pool. Confused and afraid, Marie pulled herself up, grabbed her towel and left. Whatever was happening, she needed to be alone. Or at least away from these people.

Jace staggered out of the backyard to see his parents in the living room and warm plate of pasta out. Half of the pasta was gone and it was just that one plate out on the island his dad was recently on. "Oh hey Jace, you were out there for forever. Like almost an hour. You okay?" He heard his mother's voice come from the living room where he also heard the television on. "I was? It only seemed like... Five minutes actually..." Jace said distancly. "Well okay you can have the plate on the island there. Your mother left it out for you, knowing how much you love pasta." Jace grabbed the plate and felt it was warm but also a little cold. "You should probably put it in the microwave for a minute it's probably cold by now." His mother said, reading his mind. "Okay," He set the plate in there and set it for a minute and then ran quickly to his room to recover from what had happened in the hour as his parents say. He got to his room and slammed it shut and quickly fell to the floor. He inhaled deeply as if he were coming from air in a pool. "What just happened to me out there!" He shouted to himself. He grabbed his head and tried to proccess on what just happened but no rational answer came up. He got up and threw himself on his bed contomplating on what could have happened. "I probably just fell asleep. Yeah I probably just feel asleep and had a horrible nightmare. Yeah that's it no more than a figment of my imagination! Good I'm not crazy..." Jace exhaled deeply and smiled at his rational thinking. He laid up on his bed and closed his eyes as he smiled. He opened his eyes and saw the shadow again, but it looked more like a dark cloak coming from the ceiling. Jace opened his eyes and tried not to scream by grabbing his bed sheets and looking away immediately looking at the figure. "I'm dreaming again..." Jace said with confidence.

May walked into her room and sat on her bed. "Im stil wondering how that bottle attacked me." She said to herself and rubbed her forehead again. She reached over to her night stand and grabbed her remote and clicked the TV on. The black shadow appeared again infront of the TV screen and May looked up. What the hell is that thing!?, she thought and ducked her head as to tried to jump at her. "Get away from me!" She yelled and held her head tighter. There was a crash and everything fell silent. May lifted her head to see everything from the side of the room she was sitting was planted into the wall near the TV. Pens and pencils that were on her bed was planted into the TV and the shadow was gone. May got off her bed, in disbelief, walked over to the damaged TV and pulled out a pen from the screen. Just to be sure, she thought and went to the bathroom. May layed the pen on the counter and just stared at it. Within seconds the pen flew into the wall and fell to the floor. So it's me, she thought and looked into the mirror. It must have something to do with my eyes...

[Emo/Yami]

Erin was locked out of his house... again. He checked beneath the welcome mat for an extra set of keys but found nothing but a lollipop. Why the hell is a lollipop under here? The thought formed in Erin's head as he picked the candy up and examined it. It still had the wrapping on it and was fully formed, so someone must have just put it under there recently. Putting the lollipop in his pocket, Erin walked off to find something to do. No one he knew was around so Erin decided to just walk off to the pool and harass someone. A strange feeling passed over Erin so he turned around. He didn't see anything wrong but ran anyway. Better safe than sorry.

After a while running Erin finally got to the pool and saw someone walking around. Bored, Erin hid out of sight and then imagined being that person. He closed his eyes and drew up an exact image of that person in his head. When he opened his eyes, he looked exactly like the person. Erin cursed loudly in shock, drawing minor attention to himself.

Jace was starting to get really freaked out. He had no idea what was going on. He was optiomistic but this was just insane! He rolled out of bed and flicked on his computer next to his T.V. He immediately clicked Google after the computer was fully functional and started to search "Huge shadow". Almost nothing helpful came up. But he came to the end of the page and he saw "The Mystic Shadowlon" and it was a mythology page about creatures with shadow-like appearances. He quickly scrolled through the options. Some were stupid and unhelpful. One was a huge shadow-like object appeared near towns that were struck by the Plauge in the Middle Ages. Jace was praying that the shadow creature he's been seeing isn't that creature. Then he saw one description that look promising. It was called the "Shadow Cloak" and the article was really long. Jace groaned knowning he'd have to read it all to know if that's the creature he's been seeing. The article said that it has appeared ever since the 180o's and when people see the shadow they mysteriously vanish after a phenomenon happens. Most phenomenons were like a huge hurrican or maybe snow in the dry season. Stuff that couldn't really be scienctific. "This could be the creature..." Jace said to himself as he quickly looked around his room. No sign of the shadow but he wasn't going to be just fine later on.

May pug some sunglasses on and stared into the mirror. Will these work, she thought and the mirror cracked, no. She sighed and took the glasses off. Then it looks like i need to calm down, she thought and walked out of the bathroom. "Where did that shadow thing even go?" She said to herself. "My parents aee going to kill me if they see what i did to my room." May sighed and leaned against the wall. Something lack started to surround her, like arms trying to pull her into the wall. She couldnt move. It's that shadow again, she thought and saw a pair of scissors on the table. May leaned her head to the side and stared at them. They came rushing at her but stabbed the shadow in, what looks like, its head, missing may by a few inches. The shadow dissapeared againand May moved away from the wall. The scissors were still jammed in. I need to get out of the house for a bit, she thought, grabbed her jacket and left

Marie turned, startled by the sudden cry. She pulled the towel tighter around herself, holding her hand above her eyes. The sun was setting, but that didn't make it any less in her face. Marie could barely make out a girl a few meters away from her, but...

"The hell?" Marie changed course, moving toward where the sound came from. It may have been the stress of whatever just happened at the pool, but Marie swore that girl looked just like her. She rounded the corner, confronting the imposter. "You! Who do you think you are?!"

The flames vanished, and Ryuki was very confused. He had no idea what that was. "C'mere Roxer!" He said to the dog as both went into his room. "Maybe I can find something that tells me what that black thing is....." He whispered to himself. He was very lazy so he gave up after five minutes and walked with Roxer. After all, He didn't walk him up that day. After some time he stumbled upon two twins running. "So cute. Little girls playing!" "Wait... is that...?" He thought as he saw the shadow above the girls. "Hey Roxer!, Ready for a little race?!" Said Ryuki with his dog as he followed the girls and the shadow. "You ain't escaping now!" Ryuki said running towards the three.

BTW, the twins are Marie (Ansem) and the impostor.

Jace was starting to silently freak out at this point. 'Could the description fit the creature? Were there going to be strange phenomenons coming now like snowing right now?! Oh God what's going to happen to my family?! They're going to flip out!' Jace started to pace around the room again as his parents knocked at the door. "Jace can we come in?" He heard his father's voice. "Um sure?" He said in a questionable tone. Both his parents walked in looking concerned. "Something up?" Jace asked still standing in the middle of his room. "Well yeah, are you feeling alright? You seem quite jumpy today. We just want to know if you're alright." His mother sounded sympathetic to his "issue". But Jace didn't have an "issue". It was that shadow creature or whatever. His dad turned his head toward the computer and saw that it was turned on. "Jace you do know you're grounded right?" He looked straight at him with his piercing brown eyes. "School project!" Jace shouted immediately. "What?" His parents said in unison. "It's for history class! I have to find a monster and do a report on him. I found this site on shadow creatures that seem really interesting." He lied straight for his parents. He feared his mother would catch him in the act, but his tense faded after she said, "Well alright if it's for school then study on but if I catch you on something not school related or project related, say good-bye to life." They both exited the room. "Haven't I already said bye to life when you grounded me today?" Jace muttered to himself. He plopped down onto his seat next to his computer. "Oh great it's break and now I have to do a fake project? This sucks!" He slammed his head on his desk. He looked up and just went to the bathroom for no reason. He just needed another quick look into his eyes before he did anything else. "Why do I feel... strange?" He finally said after a couple moments of silence.

"Hey girls watch out!" Screamed Ryuki as he warned pointed upwards showing the shadow above them. The shadow noticed they saw him, and ran away. "Stay here with the girls, Roxer! I'll go after it!" Said Ryuki as he followed the shadow and left Roxer with the mysterious girls.

"those girls' eyes are weird, just like mine... Gray and White" thought Ryuki as he followed the shadow.

After some time the shadow went into an old orange mansion. "Creepy place" He whispered to himself. "No time to chicken out! I've gotta give that thing a lesson!" Said Ryuki as he want inside the mansion.

There, He was so angry that his arms burst into flames and he tried to punch the shadow, but he went right through it, and the shadow escaped. "Wow what was that? My hands.... that thing.... what's happening.... what is this place...."

After checking the old mansion because of his curiosity, he found an old metal door that wasn't functional. "Heh, that's easy to fix!" He said as he grabbed his tools he always hang out with in his backpack.

After fixing it, he found an old manuscript that had a image of a demon and shadows killing people, but there were five different colored people, that were fighting with different abilities. He noticed a yellow boy using fire to fight. "Wow! What is this?! Could those things that are happening be linked to this prophecy? Of course they are! This is definitely not a coincidence!" Said Ryuki astonished.

Jace was trying to calm himself down from all the information he was trying to find and a near death attack my an inanimate object. He started to splash water in his face and looked at the small window in his bathroom and saw the clouds were starting to get really heavy and rain poured out faster now. "What is going on? The weather guy said there wasn't suppose to be a chance of rain today. Especially a mini hurricane like this one..." He stopped himself and rememberd the first phenomenon was a huge thunderstorm. "Well now I know that the shadow creature isn't the one with the Plauge..." Jace joked to calm his spirits. Yet it didn't work. He jogged out of his bathroom and turned on the news. The weather guy was outside in a rain coat and the wind was blowing pretty fast. "This rainstorm is getting really bad! We haven't seen any signs of flash floods but the winds are starting to pick up fast now. I'm starting to worry if this is a flash severe storm!" The weather man shouted over the wind. Jace's face went very pale and heard heavy rain his huge window next to his bed. 'Crap this is getting too freaky for me!' He started to feel a cold sweat break across his brow. But then he closed his eyes and flopped back first on his bed. "I need to calm down. It's all in my head. Everything is going to be fine." He concentrated on the rain and the rain started to stop and the wind wasn't blowing outside anymore. "What the hell!" Jace jumped up and say the same thing happened to the weather guy. It was starting to shine and no clouds were in sight. "That tears it I'm in a nightmare." He fell back on his bed and closed his eyes again.

"Hey girls, watch out!"

Marie spun to the new voice, following his finger with her eyes. She looked up to see a black figure stretched overhead, preparing to drop down. What the hell were these things?!

The creature noticed the boy who was running towards them, darting awayas he approached. The boy left his dog behind, chasing the shadow into the distance. Marie took a step back form the dog, briefly covering her nose. Dogs could get her allergies kicking up. But there were more important things at hand than an animal. Marie turned back to the imposter, her face twisting into a grimace of anger and confusion. "I'm not done with you. Who are you, and what are you doing with that?" She pointed to the mystery girl's borrowed body.

Getting home, Ryuki found Roxer waiting for him and super happy. "Come on little guy, let's go watch some TV, the weather is really weird today, and we need a rest from all of that. He saw his mom and dad home. "Hey Ryuki where were you? Dinner is ready!" said his mom. "Walking with Roxer" he replied. "Ok then, wash your hands and let's eat." Said his mom. Ryuki replied with a nod.

After eating, Roxer and Ryuki watched TV. After some time, there was a huge storm with astonishing lightnings. Roxer was trembling with fear. "C'mere little guy, let's rest." Ryuki said before taking a nap.

When Jace opened his eyes again it was around 6 o'clock p.m. Jace rubbed his tired eyes but then remembered what happened before he took his surprise nap. He opened his huge window next to his bed and leaned out. The sun was just setting across the hills around the town and there were only a cloud or two in the sky. "Thank God it was just a nightmare." He slumped down on his box that stood under his window so he could sit there and gaze out onto the city. He started to smile and jumped off his box to go downstairs to see his parents. He jogged down the steps and slid into the living room to see them. Their eyes were glued to the television at the end of the room. "Hey," Jace said like nothing happened beforhand. His mother jerked her head toward him and calmly said, "Hi Jace, did you take a nap? You didn't make a sound up there.". "Yeah and it was well needed. I guess I needed a break from everything." He said as he spun into the kitchen. "Well that's good son." He heard his father's voice this time. "Hey is it okay if I go for a walk? The sunset is beautiful today." Jace was still smiling because he was so happy about the nightmare was over. "Sure but don't be so late." His mother instructed him as he ran out the door. Jace took in a deep breath and sighed heavily. He started to walk down the street with his hands behind his head, staring into the sky. "I'm so glad that everything was just a nightmare. I can't believe how vivid it was. Dreams like that give me the creeps." He started walk slower now coming around the first turn in his neighborhood. He was just about to pass a lamp post until he saw his shadow move on it's own. He stopped and his face went instantly pale. "Hehe I'm seeing things again." The wind started to blow slightly that brushed off the back of his neck. Jace kept on walking as the shadow that haunted him beforehand was now following him.

May ran her hand through her hair in fustration and looked at her watch. So much happened in just so little time, she thought and sighed. May pulled her jacket more tight around herself and looked around. Where am i suppose to head to now, she thought and went to go sit in the grass. This would be much easier if i knew exacly what was going on and how i keep getting attacked. She plucked a flower from the ground and twisted it in her fingers. The flower soon floated off her hand and she just let it float there. May looked over at a boy that just passed the lamp post and something dark behind him. May just watched and the flower fell

Jace stopped and saw a girl at the pond by the park. He stopped and so did the shadow. The girl seemed gloomy but he couldn't tell, her back was to him. He started to walk up to her to see if she okay since it seemed like Jace knew her. "Hey," Jace called out to her. The girl turned around and he saw piercing red eyes and he knew immediately who she was. "Oh hey May!" He beamed. Jace was trying act calm since he didn't want to freak May out. She seemed a bit upset and there was a bruise on her forehead. Not something to be worried about but still it was pretty bad. "Something alright?" Jace asked as he looked away from her to look at what she could have been looking for.

After his nap, Ryuki went outside to look at the sun. He loved doing that with Roxer "Nice sight, right?" he asked Roxer, with obviously no reply. He decided to walk a little.
"It's always nice to walk! You can meet new friends!" He said. Then he stumbled upon two people. He pointed at the dark blue-eyed boy and said "You live right next to me..... Jace, right?" "Dare I ask, but is that girl a friend of yours?" asked Ryuki. Without a response he just sat there on the ground and stared at the sun again. "Nice sun ain't it?"

May looked up at jace. "Um im okay i guess." Do i dare ask about those shadows that's been trying to kill me, she thought and saw another boy walk over. Ryuki, right. She thought as he sat down. I think i've seen him around here. "Yeah." She said to him. "Um have any of you been having strange things happen to you today?" She asked. They might have powers too, she thought and looked at Ryuki and back as Jace.

"Yeah, weird things happened." He said as he explained what happened that day and the manuscript in the mansion. "Say, you have weird colored eyes.... and there were people colored with the color of your eyes... and mine too! This is not a coincidence! What are we gonna do if this demon attacks us?!" Ryuki said in panic. "Wait we are missing two people! We must find them and discover the truth about this demon and our powers! Are you ready for it?" Ryuki asked. Before they could reply shadows were lurking away. "Look those shadows... they could be going where the missing people are! Let's follow them!" Ryuki said as he grabbed Roxer's collar and ran with him, following the shadow.

Wouldnt be smart to run away from the shadows, she thought and got up. "Ugh, wait up." She said and followed after Ryuki. The idea of following these thing made her nervous. May saw the shadows just up ahead of Ryuki. There's two othhers like me?, she thought, okay so are we suppose to be heros or something. May sighed and tried to catch up
