Hey. As many of you would have seen, we previously had an opt-in "Show 5 latest visitors" for user profiles. I removed the feature, seeing as I didn't think it was fair for users to know who was on their profile, and I felt that users would be discouraged from looking at user profiles if they knew it would leave a record. However, a lot of you are disappointed about this, so I'm gonna leave it open to discussion--

 

"Show 5 latest visitors"-- Arguments for

- You get to see who visited your profile

- People might make friends this way

 

"Show 5 latest visitors"-- Arguments against

- People will know if you visit their profile

- It might discourage users from visiting people's profiles, and make them feel uncomfortable

 

So which side are you on? Please give a good argument, and thanks.

I say showing the latest 5 visitors is cool. You get to see who visit your profile, You can make new friends , You can see who stalking you

And people can see your stalking them.

Kind of a useless feature in my opinion. It's not particularily harmful in any way, but I would definitely not miss, or even notice it if it went away.

 

Quite frankly, I'd just get rid of it.

I don't really care about stalkers, and I don't really care whether or not I can see the last 5 visitors on my profile.

Going to give my personal opinion: It's annoying when people say to me "oh hey, you looked at my profile" or "why did you look at my profile?". I just wanted to see who you are, or I was just clicking around... I don't want to discuss this with you.

I'd prefer if you kept it, the profile seems empty without it. If you want to though, make it an option to select if you want it not. (Make it default )

I think its kinda pointless. I don't care whether it stays or not. An option sounds like a good idea though.

While I think it's useful to know who has been on your profile, I believe it infringes (in a small way) on someone's privacy. Hence, I don't really care if it stays or goes.

I'm pretty certain that i have never had that thing? have seen it on everybody elses profile, but not my own...

I like it because it makes me feel special when I see someone checked out my profile.

But if people are uncomfortable with it, there should be a option to be anonymous when viewing someones profile.

To be honest, I don't really care if you keep it or not. I like the feature, but if people really feel uncomfortable about it (I really don't understand why you would, but to try and understand the differing opinions of people is a forgone conclusion) then I wouldn't be overly upset to see it go.

I reckon either way we need something there.

It should be optional. If you don't want, just forget about it. But if you do want, just click 'allow' or something.

It has its good and bad points. It can help you make new friends, but people can also be like 'meh, you chasing me or what?". So, yeah, having it optional seems like the best thing to do. It's nice to see who visited your profile, I think. But if you don't wanna, simply, just take it off. Depends on the person, really. But yeah, my vote is that it becomes optional or return to the way it was.

Some may think it's useless, and if they do, they simply can take it out. But some like me, enjoy it, so I think it's fair to make it optional rather than take it out forever.
