To be honest i think they made a ponit to show how sora and riku have become equals when one gets to strong the other one catches up and remember without ventus xehanort would have never went to master eraqus and never met terra. If terra was never involved with terra would never went to destiny islands and gave riku the power to weild a keyblade.
