To put things in perspective, the original XIII got an 8.9/10. And both games were reviewed by the same person-- who is a big fan of the FF series.

I don't understand how Ryan Clements can constantly say that the game is an improvement, yet give it a lower score than XIII.

That was about what I was expecting. The ending(s) turned me off from getting the game, especially since I'm kind of a fence-sitter on the original.

Look at 90% of the games that came out last November.

Opinions change. His opinion of FF XIII probably significantly declined after he did his review for it (which happens a lot).

This is why I find reviews sometimes sketchy (yes, coming from an unprofessional reviewer). It's hard to put together your thoughts on a movie or game review only a few hours after you've beaten it, and the guys who get early review copies are given only a specific amount of time to play through and write a review for a game.

I don't care what the reviews say. I never use them for anything other than to find out if a game's completely broken.

I saw a review for it on playstation lifestyle (I think that's what the website was called) and they gave it a 5/10. Ouch.

me no care about review i still cant wait to play this game watched the ending for it earlier which i probs shouldnt of done but still it was worth it cause it was an epic ending
