I'm going to post my favourite Superhero comics in a somewhat in depth matter to why there are my favourites.I will be posting around 3 to 4 a day.Comment and Enjoy.

 

 

 

Bendis and Maleev run on Daredevil

This is one of best superhero comic i have ever read,This is reason why Daredevil is my favourite Superhero.It mixes Noir and the aspects of being superhero and court dramas wonderfully.The characters are deep,believable and flawed.The story sets the steaks high and never dissapoints.The art is beautiful and captures the noir aspect better than any other comic.The comic never backs out of anything,people find out Matt Murdock is Daredevil,Daredevil takes over Hell Kitchens,He fights his rogues gallery.Matt Murdock is as interesting as Daredevil.It’s so different from any other superhero comic out there it’s incredible,it’s breath taking,It’s masterpiece.It’s one of best runs in comic history.I love this series and everyone should read it even if you don’t know or care about character.You should also check out Frank Miller run and Ed Brubaker run on this series also Mark Waids run is different and awesome(makes Daredevil fun again)

Best Moment: It’s very hard to choose but when Daredevil makes himself Kingpin is just left me speechless.He beat Kingpin and the only way he make sure Hell Kitchen safe is to appoint himself Kingpin of Hell Kitchen is just great and after effects on it is brilliant as well and make for great way on how people see Daredevil as hero.(side note:His fight with Bullseye where he insults him and fighting him at same time is just...)

 

All-Star Superman

What is there left to be said that havn’t about this story.I heard it even made are legendary mod cry.This is best superman story ever end of story.There’s alot of people who don’t like Superman,All of got to say is read this book it shows how important Superman is.Grant Morrsion how did himself on this one doing everything he’s famous for but making it make sense it bigger picture.The 12 tasks Superman as to complete are great reading the art by Frank Quitely is great and captures epicness of the character.It shows of Superman is god but he’s slowing dying so he’s tries to make sure everything will work out before his death.It keeps getting better and better and better until it ends where you just sit there and think it over.The characters feel familiar but new at same time.Lex Luthor is just as evil as he is else where but here he is just better and Jimmy is even cooler than ever.It’s hard reading normal Superman stories after reading this.I almost brought tear to eye and say it again it’s masterpiece.

Best Moment: Again Like Daredevil it’s hard to pick between Superman trying to save his Pa Kent,Superman saving “emo” girls life when she about to kill herself with him giving his talk to her feel like this is just magical moment and there to see it.There’s also Superman showdown with Lex,Superman curing cancer and building heart for artificial Heart for the Sun or Zibarro helping Superman escape.

 

 

 

 

Batman:The Black Mirror

This is one of darkest Batman stories i have ever read and it’s one of best.Scott Snyder develops Dick Grayson,James Gordon. and Jim Gordon characters to a level where i say they have never been better,This is these Gordon story dealing with is he bad parent and how messed up his son is,The writing is rich and flawless and the art by Jock and Francavilla is incredible.You even have Joker in this where he acts like kids because all he wants is to have his Batman back and not Grayson.It dives deep into both main character pass and does better than comics like Year One.With great characters that shown the man who steals the show is James Gordon Jr in ways he better character than Joker and plans things out in cool fashion,he is some messed up and some interesting to just can’t take your eyes of this character.This is best modern Batman story in last 10 years it again is masterpiece and does everything right.The climax was best in comic in long time.

Best Moment: The skeleton key issue in which flashback to Gordon’s and shows how messed up his son is and reveal in just wow.I reread issue again and again and never gets old just better.The climax and Joker issue are also great.James Gordon.Jr is on top 5 best batman villains because of this book.The real best moment is anything with James Gordon.Jr

 

 

Secret Six

The group of 3rd rate characters made for a great comic.The chemistry was great,The characters were great,The writing was great,The Art was great,The events they got into were amazing.This comic is fun,funny,action packed and has great deal of character development and stories.It’s one of most well-rounded comics out there.Stories like Secret Six fighting slavers,Taking on DC heros,Catman trying to get his son back,Catman fighting Batman,Them getting a get of jail free card and then them going to hell.Are all great stories.It takes team of murders and characters that shouldn’t likable and makes them lovable.I love this comic series and find that it;s over but not going to stop talking about all greatness that is the secret six.The moments i will always remember about this series might be small ones like Bane trying to be Scandal Savage’s father and Deadshot backstabing them,Ragdoll offbeatness and then becoming normal,King Shark being a Shark,The wild west story are great moments and there are more.All main characters in Secret Six are great and have become some of my favorite characters in Dc.

Best Moment: Another hard pick between S6 going to hell,The wild west story,Secret Six’s Last Stand and Deadshot backstabing them but best moment is with Catman of all people where he has terrible father who made him kill his mother so when goes down to hell he meets his dad and is finally happy because he know he gets tortured everyday by his mother who is lion now and him trying to get son back also great moment.

Joss Whedon's run on Astonishing X-Men

I might not be a huge X-men fan but this is my favourite X-men story and one of my favourite Marvel stories of all-time.It is not perfect and there are some minor problems(see the second arc) i have this run but it’s epic and scope of the series is amazing.The writing by Whedon is great and sets the stage and pacing as masterful and Art by John Cassaday captures the action and setting really well and get up with Whedon writing.The team of Cyclops, Emma Frost, Wolverine, Beast, Shadowcat,Colossus and Armor make for great team and have really well done chemistry.What makes this one of greatest X-men story is the focus on characters and interactions and great it captures what X-men is suppose to be and what want to read about them.The characters are likable and still seem like characters and it made more of Cyclops and Kitty fan off of how well they were done in this book.

Best Moment:This is pretty easy one Spoilers........When Kitty phases inside the Breakworld bullet, and when it reaches Earth, makes it intangible, so that the bullet passes through Earth.Kitty seemingly sacrifices her life.It’s some well done and heart breaking to see this characters go and interactions are classical and believable to there characters leading this to be best moment and best sacrifice in a comic.

 

 

 

Batwoman:Elegy

This has the best art ever featured in a superhero comic by J.H. Williams III,The detail and scope is breath taking,stunning, eye popping you don’t even need words the art is still works the money.The different art-styles feel different but each one is a masterpiece in there own way.The layouts put every comic to shame,the coloring and lettering are also top of there game as well.It’s get into the story now and you might be thinking that everything else was there top of there game what about the writing and the story and well Greg Rucka keeps up to everything else and makes one great story.It develops Kate Kane story so well and makes you like this character and care about the story.Her back-story is one of best done in any comic-book and villain named Alice helps steal the show with her twisted personally.The plot twist works well and is shocking while still brilliant and true to what is being set up.Everything in this story is at the top of there game and makes for one of best stories in last 10 years.

Best Moment:The back-story is so well done and incredible but the climax with Alice and Batwoman fighting on plane is even better it mixes action and story so well and puts the streaks high while still wrapping up batwoman and alice’s story.

 

 

Civil War

Is odd event in a way it’s Iron Man and Captain American going against each other a bill being past over super heros.Where alot Marvel Event and i mean fail,i think Civil War does well it puts steaks high,It makes Iron Man hatred man,Kills Captain American and Spiderman reveals himself to the world as being Peter Parker which all of these work pretty well in my opinion.The ending is beautiful between Tony and Steve and one of most emotional scenes in Marvel comics.It’s such different comic that i even think that scenes with Cap and Iron Man just talking are better than action scenes.Even if everything does work it’s brave enough to try something new that i can ignore negatives to it.

Best Moment:Iron Man telling Cap “It wasn’t worth it" is perfect scene.There were other moments that were good like Peter showing whole Spiderman until One More Day(piece of garbage,no it’s even worse then piece of garbage) fixed it.

 

 

 

Batman:The Long Halloween

There’s one reason why Batman the most popular character in comics and it’s because he as thr most villains and stories that are great and there’s no better example than The Long Halloween.Continuing off of Year One(I will get that one later)Batman is still young detective and this story mixing in his life with Bruce Wayne and him going up against of of his rogues on a holiday to find the holiday killer who is getting of Gotham gangster on holidays but this story real star of story is the character is Harvey Dent and him turning into Two-face.It takes cues from great gangster movies and writing in this story by Jeph Loeb is great and one best written Batman stories out there.The interaction between Harvey,Batman and James is well done and very interesting.The art by Tim Sale is great taking is own take on very single villain while still being good to the source and art-style is very iconic and adds to overall story.This made Calender Man an interesting villain again and this is best Harvey Dent story ever made and maybe best Batman story out there.

Best Moment:Harvey Dent slow down fall:is so well done and you know it’s going to happen you don’t want it to.It leads to one Batman’s greatest failure and when Harvey Dent gets acid in the face to know what going to happen next but can’t stop reading it.

Mark Waid’s run on Daredevil

Daredevil live was just getting worse and worse where we was basically punching bag in Marvel U and after comic that should have be named he had high all time low.Until Mark Waid became his run on Daredevil in 2011 where he made him fun,funniest and most interesting man in the Marvel.The art is great and does great job of feeling fresh and new for Daredevil.The lettering is just great and really does good job of adding to the comedy.The writing by Waid is just amazing and does such great job with the case of Daredevil characters.It shows Daredevil does not have to be dark to be good and is such refreshing comic with everything it does.It is one of most fun comics i have read with what it does.

Best Moment: Daredevil losing his hearing and accidently yelling at people because he can’t control his voice and his fight in the issue is great.The ending of comic is just perfect and genius ending to first arc with one funniest moments in comic i’ve read it’s all arounf just great comic in everything.

 

 

Batman:Year One

This is the most important Batman comic since his first appearance.Written by Frank Miller a writer i’ve made fun for writing terrible garbage like All-Star Batman and Robin and that comic just pissed me off because this comic writer is what recreated modern Batman and gave the back story to every Batman film/cartoon used in the last 25 years and he tells people that those two stories are in same universe well f you Frank.This only great Batman story Frank Miller wrote (sorry the Dark Knight Returns is Overrated)and it’s masterpiece.It works off of Batman’s early years with him making mistakes and trying to be hero for his parents and story is one of best told about Batman but what the story is really about James Gordon and him moving to Gotham after what in Chicago.He tries to get rid of corruption in Gotham to make it good place for his family.He is told so tell and is just such a believable character and flawed one who even cheats on his wife.That’s what makes Catwoman,Batman and James great in that there flawed and not perfect people but there goals are pure and act like normal person would.

Best Moment:Anything with James Gordon to be honest there so many great developed scenes in this story but the one moment that i would say is the best is also one of best if not the best moments in Batman history where Spoilers here ........Batman saves James Gordon Jr from falling and hands the kid to James Gordon and at the time Batman not having his mask on and James Gordon says"You know, I'm practically blind without my glasses,".Gordon knowing Batman is Bruce Wayne knows it’s better from city he continues doing what he’s doing.Which is just great writing by Frank Miller.

 

 

Geoff Johns run on Booster Gold

Geoff Johns the king of taking 3rd or forgotten characters and making them great again he took 12 issue stab at Booster Gold and what he created was an awesomely fun comic.This series starts after 52(i will get to that one later) that basically Booster Gold travels through time to right wrongs in the timestream with Rip Hunter.In the run he meets up with Johan Hex,Sinestro,The Flash and Kid Flash,The Night Batgirl was shot and him trying to save Blue Bettle,It’s fun adventure like comic that dives into the character of Booster Gold and how character is.The story with Blue Bettle is so well done and shows how such good friends they are and seeing what the that arc ends is tough to see my follow characters on these two really well.Booster and Blue bettle and the best duo in comics and this story shows it very well and writing and art are very well done.

Best Moment:There’s alot great moments like finding relationship between Booster and Rip,Blue Bettle meeting the present Blue Bettle and Blue and Gold taking on Max and ending to that is very heart warming.But best moment in this series is Booster Gold trying to save Babera Gordon from what happens to let her from the Joker.He keeps losing and losing and getting beaten and beaten but he continues to go to try to save her and does not give up.The ending to this not wanting to give it way is bitter sweet and talk he has with Batman in the end is just great.

 

 

 

The Flash: The Return of Barry Allen

This is new Flash story ever done,Sorry Cella but Johns has nothing on Mark Waid’s run on the flash(But people should read John’s run on The Flash is pretty good).This story is after COIE(which i will get to write about later).The Flash of this story is Wally West and when Barry Allen seems to have came back from dead it could not make Wally any happier but he turns out to be his worst nightmare to what happens with Barry and as to get rest of speeders to stop him.Waid crafts a great story about Wally West and the twist is tied in very well.it’s my favourite

Best Moment:Wally getting trained on how to faster than Barry is great but final fight between the two is just great the writing and art are great and the ending is just great to be an end to the story.The plot twist was also really great too.

Batman:The Killing Joke

This is the best character study on a villain ahead of Magneto:Testament,Flash #182 and Penguin:Pain and Prejudge which are all worth reading.What makes The Killing Joke a classical it does what no batman comic as done it tells Joker origin story and shows how one bad day can drive you insane if you allow it to.Seeing the Joker going insane is one of best moments in superhero comics and it does good job of making us almost care about the Joker.The ending is great and Moore’s writing and Brian Bolland’s art captures what Moore needs to tell his great story.This comic also took Batgirl and made Joker shot her in spine just to drive James Gordon insane.

Best Moment:This comic again is chop full of them but the ending with the Joker telling Batman a joke about how he can’t become normal again is just such well done moment and one of best in DC comics.

 

Bryan Q Miller run on Batgirl

Stephanie Brown was pretty much hated by fans and after what happened to less Batgirl series people were not expecting much from this comic but Bryan Q Miller proved how Stephanie Brown was great character and how Batgirl can be fun comic and not dark one.The art is usually great and when it get painted it’s really nice and writing by Miller is just great he understands the characters well and makes issues fun and interesting while still feeling like Bat book.This series shows a female lead in comic-book series does not need to sexualized and can be funny and loveable.This series has a tons of charm and i loved every single of it.One of my favourite series in last 5 years.

Best Moment:The runners up would be Batgirl and Supergirl hunting vampires,Batgirl trying to find an cat a lover(It’s makes sense),Batgirl making faces at the police and Batgirl trying to make Damian Wayne have fun but the best moment is where we get to see her future.It’s just so well done and the perfect signing off point for the series.Seeing her as a mother and training a new Batgirl was just so nice.

What happens when you put Greg Rucka,Grant Morrison,Geoff Johns and Mark Waid make them write about the 3rd rate characters of DC comics and make 52 issues come out in 52 weeks you will get 52 the comic that failed a explaining what happened after Infinite Crisis but happy it did.There story here for everyone like supervillain seeking redemption through the rebuilding of his home nation, a cosmic story about three lost heroes trying to find their way back to earth, one man's quest to bring his wife back to life through magic,Booster Gold trying to get more fame,The Question trying to fix someone life and so much more.The foreshadowing here is brilliant and all writers using there strong spots to write something special.It’s story about DCU as whole and works really well even if some spots are not as good as others.There tons of great moments,good character develop and uses 3rd string character well.

Best Moment: As much as i liked ending with Ralph and Sue and Black Adam story the real winner of 52 was wait of it..... Booster Gold.Booster Gold story is always great and is wonderfully done and is highlight of 52 and he saves 52 earths take that Superman.

 

 

Grant Morrison’s run on Batman and Robin

Set after Final Crisis(which has some great moments like the Batman and Darkseid battle but also had some dull moments as well overall it’s good story) where Dick Grayson is Batman and Damian Wayne is Robin.The dynamic between these two are great with Dick being more understanding and caring and Damian being more like Bruce and more aggressive which works great when put these together.The writing overall is great with the relationship between Damian and Dick,Dick getting used to cape and Professor Pyg and Joker arcs are done really well and could be some of his best writing but Talia al Ghul arc just pissed me off and a fair number parts just did not work.The art is great with a fair number different artist doing a good job.This run sold people on Damian Wayne and made him gather quite following and it’s not hard to see why on how he gets written by Grant with how team-up works.

Best Moment:Second Robin Jason Todd got beat to death by Joker with a lead pipe.Now when Joker in jail he asks to see Damian who using a crowbar to attempt to torture information out of the Joker doing what he did to Jason.The scene is so great and such cool idea and how resolves can really only be done Morrison.

 

Spiderman:Blue

This is my favourite spiderman book because it does not really feel like Spiderman book and i don’t really no what it is.Before Loeb became horrible writer to wrote Spiderman:Blue with the art of Tim Sale which is one of my favourite writer/artist team ups.The book is about Peter Parker meeting his first love Gwen Stacy and him recalling how they felt and fell in love.The art like the long Halloween puts it’s own spin on spiderman villains and ladies which are really nice.It does adds to classical spiderman stories wonderfully and writing by Loeb is great with excellent pacing.It’s perfect story for someone who has not read any Spiderman comic before.

Best Moment:The ending is great it wraps up story nicely with it making me like Spiderman more as character and it make for great tribute to the silver-age spiderman.
