The Future Can Be Changed

 

Chapter 1 - The First Important Decision

 

In the year of 2258, Humans had found a new planet to live. Earth had been seriously damaged, and with time, had been turned into a place where most of the life could not survive for much longer -- there were poisonous gases around the atmosphere, insects had gotten smarter, and so they knew when to attack, injure, and easily transmit diseases.

 

Besides that, new kinds of wild animals had started to appear -- some were like a mix of a bear with an alligator, other resembled the dinosaur, which had disappeared from Earth centuries ago. It was really hard to keep living on Earth -- and some people refused to leave it, and most of them ended up dying -- either by a disease or by being attacked by these wild animals.

 

In the middle of this, there was a small family, which was composed by a fifteen-years old boy, a thirty-eight years woman, and a sixty-four years old woman. They were respectively named Jason, Keyla, and Vear. They were having a hard time deciding whether they would stay here, on Earth, and have risks of being killed or dying at any second, or going to the recently discovered new planet.

 

Vear wanted to stay, because all of her family had lived and died here -- her mom, dad, brother, cousins and grandparents -- but Keyla did not want to, because she wanted to live for many more years. Jason was not sure what he would do -- because he liked his grandmother a lot, but also wished to live a lot more.

 

The people were being sent every day to the other planet -- by that year, there were about 10,5 million people on Earth, and only 500 thousand could be taken by it each day. Vear then told her daughter and grandson that she would think a bit more, and give a proper reply in the following day.

 

Keyla was desperate to go to the other planet -- she had heard that there was a magical powder, which could only be found in there that could give some special powers to the people. She was a bit selfish, and actually would go alone, even if the rest of her family refused to go.

 

Vear was still deciding, but it would be truly painful for her to leave all her memories and dead family behind. She loved them so much, and once she went to the other planet, there was no way to come back -- at least that was what they had informed the people on the TV.

 

Jason would follow his grandmother’s decision, even if it cost him his life -- he loved her so much -- more than his own mother. In the past, his mother had ‘abandoned’ him, because she left all the responsibility with her mother, and instead started to talk with to unknown people on her cell phone.

 

It was time to go to bed -- none of them could easily sleep. It took a while, because they stood a few hours thinking about what they would do in the following day. As the sun appeared, each one of them had decided what they would do now. They woke up almost at the same time, and decided to first have breakfast, before having the discussion where each one would say and defend why they thought that was better.

Chapter 4.1 - The new Planet

 

Keyla managed to get in the new planet shortly after departing from the main airplane, and there, she picked her bag, and left the transport in a random place. She was not dumb; she knew that if they found her near, or inside it, it would be more than obvious that she did something wrong. And she knew that someone would start searching for that transport.

 

Keyla was also very pretty. She had blue eyes, black straight hair and would surely use it as a weapon -- to taunt the men that had gone in the planet in the previous days, and try to get advantages -- which was her goal for everything. She was never truly satisfied with anything. She loved to get more and more.

 

She had fallen in a beautiful part of the new planet -- filled with flowers, a lot of little and cute animals, near a big and mysterious forest. Compared to what Earth had turned into after all of these years, this place looked like a paradise.

“So, this is the new planet? Not bad, I must say. Seems way better than that old Earth....” she said while looking around.

 

“Hahahahahaha. I was successful. No one is ever going to stop me now... I will take everything this new planet has to offer! I must start to search for that magical powder they were talking about.... But... first I need to get out of this place... If anyone sees me with that transport, I might as well be in a terrible situation... I’ll head for the north.” she said.

 

Then, she started walking towards the north, instead of going into the forest, which at her eyes, could be something dangerous. She was not a person that had many fears, but she was a little tired, so anything dangerous now would not be very good for her.

 

Happy, she started to jump around like she had gained a lot of money and was very proud of that. But in reality, a new world of opportunities had just appeared in her life. That was more than enough for her to be ‘happy’. Just to think of how many things she could get, how many innocents she could fool, and how her old, boring life would never return was truly amazing.

 

Meanwhile, on Earth, Vear had a dream where she saw her mother and other members of her family that had already left this world, and every one of them said that the best thing she could was exit Earth.

 

So, as soon as she woke up, she was truly decided to get the quickest airplane to the other planet, and maybe even reunite with her daughter again. But when she turned the TV on, she heard of the accident, but it was also said that a woman managed to get the special transport, and was probably in the other planet by now. Not all her hope had died. A little bit was still alive. It surely could be Keyla! Knowing her, and her way of acting, it was more than possible that she was that woman mentioned in the journal.

 

But when she heard that the woman killed another woman, and seriously injured the captain, who later was found dead, she started to be very worried about Keyla. But standing on Earth would not help with anything. Only going to the other planet and seeking Keyla for herself was the only way to find out the truth.

 

However, because of that accident, the airplanes were stopped for a few days. The next one would only take off in three days. She quickly went to get two tickets -- for her and Jason. But she did not manage to get for the first one, so they would only be able to go there in four days.

 

“What? We’re going there? You sure?” Jason replied when Vear told him that they had only four days remaining on Earth.

“Yes, there’s no doubt about it. I wish to live more years, and who knows, even find your mom once again?” Vear replied.

 

She did not tell Jason about the accident, nor did she let him turn on the TV, where he would end up discovering everything. But he noticed that something was very strange in all of that. Still, he decided to just go and seek the answers in the other planet. His and Vear’s days on Earth were counted. It was more than needed to change everything on their lives.

 

“I just hope I’m doing the right thing... Oh, my God, please, protect me, Jason.... and Keyla too.” Vear said this while praying alone.

 

During these three days that there were no airplanes to the new planet, small groups of soldiers were being sent -- in secret, of course -- to the new planet, in order to find more about this mysterious woman, and what happened to her and the transport.

Chapter 4.2 - The right thing to do

 

On Earth, it was really late, at least in where Vear and Jason lived. So, they went to bed. But Vear could not help but be worried about what might have happened with Keyla. And hiding it from Jason did not seem to be the right thing -- but the boy’s been through so much -- he has now been ‘abandoned’ by his mother... The possibility of knowing that she might be dead, or worse, that she turned into a murdered would be too much for him.

 

But Jason was no fool. He knew that something was wrong. Vear had been really strange lately. In that night, he could not sleep well, and at 3:00a.m, Vear came and tried to make him sleep. Worried, she sang a son she used to sing to Keyla.

After singing the song, Vear noticed that Jason finally feel asleep. She cried a lot while returning to her room. It was painful, and sad, to remember how Keyla was a cute, kind kid. The memories of she singing to her came over her head, and so she kept crying alone in her room.

 

“My dear.... I will find you.... I promise.... We will be together.... I’ll save you from this darkness that has entered on you.... Don’t worry.... We’re coming.. Everything will be just as it was when you were a kid.” Vear said while crying.

 

In the next day, Jason was still wondering what was wrong. He stood even more suspicious when Vear said she was going to the cemetery later, to see all of her dead family members once again.

 

“I want to go, too.” he said.

“No... Cemeteries aren’t place for fifteen years old boys... unless it’s absolutely necessary, one should stay out of it... It’s the saddest place in this world.... And we know we’ll end up in there one day.” Vear replied.

“But grandmother... I don’t want to see you sad... I know you’ll return sad... Maybe if I go with you...” he said.

“What? There’s nothing you can do. We’re humans. We have feelings. And of course I’ll be sad, and probably cry -- they were all part of my family... You’ll pass through this one day, too... It’s best to wait until that day.” she replied.

“Grandmother...” Jason whispered.

 

Then, some hour later, Vear left Jason alone, and asked him to take care of the home, and also not to open the door to strangers.

 

Meanwhile, in the new planet, Keyla found a small place, where a few people that had gone there before her were living. She used her knife to hurt herself a bit, and to pretend she was just a victim.

 

“Ahahaha. More fools -- Amazing!” Keyla said.

“Now, to start the show....” “ Awwwwwwwww... It hurts..... Damn you, wild beasts.... I could be dead now.... aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarghhhhhhhhhhh” Keyla screamed.

 

Then, a young man appeared and asked her what had happened.

 

“Are you alright, lady?” the man asked.

“Of course I’m not you idi---- Aaarrrghhh... Help me, pleaseeee!" Keyla screamed.

“Okay, I’ll take you to the small hospital we have here. Follow me.” the man said.

“Yes, it worked. Ahaahahahahahaha! Let’s go, baby. Today we’ll have fun...” she thought to herself.

“Of course I’m not you idi---- Aaarrrghhh... Help me, pleaseeee! “
