Planning for KH1 and KH2 cutscenes

Posted

I plan to start recording KH1 and KH2 cutscenes soon... I'll probably start in the next day, even. So, I have a few questions for you before I go and start recording like 20 hours of content lol. I want to get it right the first time, and yeah, this is where you come in... to tell me what you want.

Issue 1: Subtitles

In the game, Japanese and Final Mix games contain Japanese subtitles; and English games contain English subtitles. However, I have the option to remove these. Would you rather the videos in the video archive have (a) subtitles as they appear in-game, (b) subtitles removed? For reference, you can check that our BBS Japanese cutscenes are like option (a), while BBS Eng cutscenes are like option (b). Please note that we are not translating anything, Japanese games would have Japanese subtitles (if not removed).

Issue 2: Background music

This one is simple... some cutscenes contain music in the background. Would you rather (a) we keep the music as-is, or (b) we remove the music?

Issue 3: Black bars

You will have noticed that when playing KH1 and KH2, cutscenes contain black bars at the top and bottom. While you may think that there is nothing behind these, there actually is... a bit more of the scene is revealed underneath it. So, your options are (a) we simply crop the black bars out, or (b) we remove the black bars, revealing everything behind it? Please note that option (a) leaves us with something between standard (4:3) and widescreen (16:9)-- to be specific, 16:10, and option (b) leaves us with a standard (4:3) video.

Please vote on all of these issues (or just the ones you care about), and discuss. I want to start recording soon so please voice yourselves now. :) Thanks.

Issue 1: Subtitles

Subtitles removed.

Issue 2: Background music

We keep the music as-is.

Issue 3: Black bars

We simply crop the black bars out.

I would personally like to see the music removed for standard cutscenes (with the world theme music for example) but for cutscenes with music written specifically for that scene (like the final scene in KH) the music should be kept in. I'm picky i know haha

1) Remove subtitles

2) Keep music as is

3) Remove black bars

Hrm. I kind of like subtitles, but when pondering over finally making a fan video, I think about how the subtitles get in the way and are a little distracting. So...

- No subtitles.

Background music?

- Keep

Black bars?

- I'm confused. When you say removing them, "revealing everything behind them," do you mean stuff that's part of the whole picture, or what? 'Cause if so, removing is better than cropping.

P.S. Hey DChiuch! I tried a different browser (like you said), and right now I'm using Firefox for this! Wootwoot! ^^

I don't mind if the subtitles are removed from the English, but I would prefer the Japanese to have the subtitles. It helps when you're not completely fluent to be able to read and listen. And then the English can have no subs for amv people. But that's just what I think. I don't know how many other people use the Japanese versions.

If you took out the background music, and subtitles, the scenes would be very helpful to people who want to use the scenes to make their own videos.

1. Take out the subtitles, cause it's better for AMV's

2. Keep the background music.

3. Black bars should be taken out (Better for AMV's too)

If you took out the background music, and subtitles, the scenes would be very helpful to people who want to use the scenes to make their own videos.

I don't think it should be too tough to mute music on the videos though if you're using an editing program. :) I think.

I think the idea is that some people may want the voices but not the music.

Ohh, okay. Gotcha. :)
