So I actually had a lot of this figured out. I knew that Vanitas could feel positive emotions; he would covet what Ven had, and want it for himself. Love can be a “Dark” emotion because it’s driven man to do awful things. I also knew that Vanitas had been a victim himself.

That, however, did not prepare me for this. It’s so sad! When you think about it, it was Vanitas and not Ventus that got the brute of if all. Vanitas’ story is far more depressing, and he had to remember everything too.

I always wondered about Ven’s personality in comparison to Sora’s. Glad we learned the truth (and that Ven was an orphan). I’d very much like to see what Ven’s like apart from Sora.

Personally, I’ve always wanted Vanitas to be rescued. I liked the idea of him being good, but people not necessarily knowing it. Kind of like Severus Snape; you never knew what to think about him. I think that would add some good concepts to KH.

Then again, if rescued, would Vanitas really be that bad? If he hadn’t had to become Dark by necessity, he would have been quite similar to Ven.

Anyway, I really want Vanitas to come back. It’d be unfair not to rescue him after all he’s been through. And his Lingering Spirit is Canon.

And may I point out that he and Ven never rejoined like he wanted. He was simply destroyed, and Ven’s heart was fractured again. I don’t think Nomura will leave that loose end. At the very least, Vanitas will return to Ventus.

I'm hoping this backstory of Van's will be in BBSv2. They're going to need for of a plot than 'Aqua wandering the Realm of Darkness'. Learning some backstories of Van or even MX could add to the plot depending how they work it.

You mean like a playable scenario or just revealed in some way shape or form? I feel like bbsv2 will already be so full of things needed to tie together the series that Vanitas wouldn't be the best thing to invest in. I think enough of this could be conveyed in a role similar to the Riku replica where he pops up all over the place being his usual evil self with the foreshadowing and eventual coming of an ending where we see what he truly wanted. Of course, this would be in whatever form he does return.

wow. this is epic. Reading this made me realise that Ven and Vanitas were only about 11-12 when they were 'split', meaning at one point Vanitas looked like kh1 Sora.

Not as a playable scenario, just a chance to see it in the game. Right now with BBSv2 there really isn't much known about it to say how much content this game will hold. All we can see is its potential. I just think it would be good in BBSv2 because Aqua knows who Vanitas is and she's also met Sora. For her it may be possible to make the link between the two if she saw his face. But then maybe not. All I can see now is a good potential.

I found the Vanitas backstory from someone on youtube, when I was looking up Vanitas Vids (FAN); Anyway, do you know where I can get a translation for all three novels (If not all three--then just the ones that tell the back story of Ven and Van?)
I'm currently writing a BBS fan fic on Quizilla, and now that I know a little bit more about their background--I need to change some of it, because I like to go based off of (TRUE) facts.

The thing I first thought of when I finished reading it was: Don't worry anymore, Vanitas. Xehanort won't treat you like shit anymore and Ventus will cherish you. Because, now that you're joined together, you're home. I actually like Vanitas now.

Vanitas kinda reminds me of riku just that he didnt have a sora its so sad.. i really dont like MX!!!! aaaaaand will terra ever get his body back? All the victims of MX should gang up on him and kick him where it hurts! That would be the only i'd think that its ok to gang up on someone ..
But it really makes me wonder how can someone be so evil he really is heartless

Gosh this was so sad. I have one more reason to hate MX and start thinking of my behaviour against Vanitas. He was just a child that felt too much pain and a Stupid man ( I wanted to say smth more cruel but i can't) that all he wanted was the x-blade. Who cares about it. The poor boy was left alone all the time and none cared about him. What would the game be if Yen Sid or Eraqus had found Vanitas and save him from this cruel man things would be much more different. Now i really hope Vanitas will be good again and Sora or Riku or even Ven(if he recovers) save him from that Bastard Xehanort ( Facktard suits him best)
