Birth by Sleep Final Mix was featured with a new trailer, and a playable demo. Impressions of both of these have been featured on various Japanese blogs, and translations of these blogs can be read below thanks to HEARTSTATION.ORG.
According to reports, the trailer for Birth by Sleep Final Mix did not contain any new scenes. The trailer was the same as the one shown at Tokyo Game Show 2010, but with a bit of the newly release information added to it.
Ven in the Battle Mission
Same as revealed in the magazine, the battle mission scene took place in Deep Space. Striking the enemies makes them drop yellow spheres.
Illusion D with Ven and Illusion L with Aqua
They become wrapped in a pyramid and transform, same as arranged in the magazine spread.
Additional information from the latest issue of V-Jump: When using the Illusion command, using regular attacks will add to the battle style gauge and once it is full it will end the Illusion, so be careful.
Style Change “Rhythm Mixer”
To execute the finishing move, press square, triangle, circle appropriately and finally the circle button.
Additional information from the latest issue of V-Jump: The theme of this new style is sound. Pushing the buttons in the finishing combo causes a loud pop of drum and scratch sounds!
Armor of the Master Battle
He moves around super quickly! He can split his Keyblade and drop them, releasing a pillar of fire. He also attacks with chains that dig into the ground and shoots out laser beams.
No Heart Battle
He summons a Keyblade, the grip part of which floated about in the center. His hand extends and the Keyblade is held aloft in his hand.
Additional information from the latest issue of V-Jump: You’ll be able to win a trophy for defeating him, as well as items and command panels.

It seems the trailer playing while waiting in line for the mega theater was the same as the one played inside.
I played as Ven first.
Using the Illusion R command, the Shoegazer Unversed was a different color. You could use the triangle button to release the Finishing command, Rush Charge. During the first round of Thunder commands I was able to confirm Rhythm Mixer as a battle style. As for the finishing command, the button order went square, triangle, circle, circle. Very fun!
As for the Single player mode, I thought everyone had Ven so far but I saw that Aqua was available too.
I didn’t use Ven’s Illusion command this time, instead I used the Union Rush command.
The queue line for BbS Final Mix is a bit empty…
Aqua’s level takes place in Neverland, but I skipped the cutscenes and the enemy mobs. Doing that I was able to see a cutscene where Vanitas delivers a crushing blow to Aqua in Destiny Islands. The staff around me looked quite surprised I rushed through it, I’m really sorry!
I tried to use the Illusion L command, up until now I was unsure how it’s work but it was quite easy to use.
It looked as though the Laser Bunny enemies appeared in that place too…

Ah, I’m in trouble! After defeating his eyes three times, by round 5 I was trapped inside Monstro surrounded by the stomach acids and running out of room to stand.
I was able to confirm Aqua’s Illusion S command. She turned into a different colored Medicine Bottle Unversed, and could execute the Aroma Therapy finishing move. Do I really want to blow off the opportunity to try that move?
Next time I played Terra in the multiplayer mode. I was also able to confirm that “Daisy Sorbet” ice cream had an interaction with the Rhythm Mixer battle style.
Also, you could stun Monstro when he was swimming on top the water. If you did that, you could ride his tongue.
I forgot to mention pressing the X button to swim helped speed it up, sorry about that.
The music during the fight against Monstro was the same arrangement as in Kingdom Hearts. Inside Monstro’s body were tumorous growths you could jump on. It was similar to how in Chain of Memories slapping the growths would make them spurt acid.
There is something I’m forgetting still…
When Monstro is underwater, he will usually use a leaf cutter attack that confuses. If you attack him three times while he is submerged, he will emerge unwillingly.

The multiplayer demo battle took place at Monstro. Three players began inside Monstro’s body, fighting within him. Once you inflicted enough damage on his inner walls, he spat you out and you begin to fight him from the outside. Monstro would pass underwater, then appear on the water’s surface repeatedly. Within a time limit of about 3 minutes, he would swallow the players up again. You could approach Monstro by swimming in the water, and if you timed your strike with the Keyblade right, you could be launched back on land and deal him damage.
Monstro’s life gauge is about 8 bars? Even though all three of us inflicted damage by launching at him, the half the HP of one eye’s gauge still remained, lol. Sufficient team work was really important. His strength was a little scary, but I think if we had the time we could have defeated it.

I was able to clear the worlds each time without stopping, with the exception of Aqua’s where I skipped to the end and was able to see a cutscene in Destiny Islands. Things like save points and the like were already placed in, the demo seemed very much like the final product. Although, there was one part where I started with a command that I should have acquired in the scenario. (Aqua’s Double Flight!)
Command Information
Aqua’s Illusion L = Launching Plant
Command: Plant/Come out | Finish Command: Poison Attack
The attacks change between being planted in the ground and not. She was planted about 3 times; when she was hit she’d be displaced automatically. The regular attacks had status effects like poison and confusion.
Terra’s Illusion D = Tank Toppler (In the trailer Ven is shown using this as well)
Command: Trample | Finish Command: Jet Charge
Taking hits to the front makes you inflate. The regular attacks emit smoke from it’s hands.
Ven’s Illusion R = Shoegazer
Command: Trample | Finish Command: Charge
The regular attacks kick the enemy upward. I think if you work up a combo attack, you can get into a guard like status.
Aqua’s Illusion S = Medicine Bottle
Command: Aroma Therapy | Finish Command: Drain Mist
Normally attacks with mist. I didn’t get a good look, but it seemed to have a poison effect.
Trailer Report
I’m omitting the scenes that were already scene in the Japanese version, as well as the parts shown at Tokyo Game Show 2010.

This time the mission on display was against the monstrous whale Monstro from the Disney title Pinocchio. Since it was available for up to three people to try, I played as Ventus, Ms. Rie Kawai was Aqua, and Mr. Sendai selected Terra. As soon as the demo began, we were inside Monstro. Defeating the Unversed inside Monstro would allow us to get out, but while I was fighting about I accidently fell into the gastric acids which took away HP, so it was necessary to pay attention while attacking! Incidentally, there were growths within Monstro that you could stand and jump on. I thought it was fun, a bit like a trampoline… Meanwhile the other two defeated the Unversed and allowed us to escape. Not to say that I was just playing around!
I was thinking, here we really met Monstro for the first time! He’s huge! How are we gonna fight him…? Outside there were barrels filled with explosive powder all over. Using these to attack, we could strike them and deal Monstro some damage. If you had good aim, Monstro would eventually faint briefly where we could stand on his tongue and attack him! I see, it’s best if we split up…
What’s this? We were swallowed up by Monstro and are back inside again. It seems the battle is designed so that if you don’t defeat Monstro within the three minutes time you are outside, you will be swallowed again. To get out quick, I must defeat the Unversed! Here we had the opportunity to try out the new deck commands.
Ventus was able to use the “Union Rush” command. When you pressed the buttons at the right timing you can take out your enemies, and the finishing move is performed by cooperating with your comrades. Unfortunately, everyone was so busy taking care of the enemies in front of them that we were unable to get the finishing move to work, lol.
Also, the new added command style “Rhythm Mixer” was a challenge! The theme of the style is sound, so whenever you striked during this style a scratch sound would be made. To do the finishing move, three buttons would appear on the screen which you needed to press at the right time. It felt almost like being a DJ! Though, my timing wasn’t very good here, lol.
It seemed that Aqua and Terra could also use the same new deck command, “Illusion”. Using this command, the player is engulfed by a pyramid and they change into an Unversed. Using the “Illusion D” command, Terra would transform into the plump Tank Toppler Unversed and bumble around as he fought. Aqua had the “Illusion S” command, seen for the first time here at Jump Festa. Her version seemed to have a healing effect. At first glance I wondered why Ms. Kawai had muttered “Aromatherapy!” when such a word isn’t related to a battle.
Repeating the process, we were outside Monstro again, and then inside Monstro again, and after the 3rd time we were able to win! When monstro had fainted, I jumped upon his tongue as Ventus and delivered the final blow beautifully. Ah, the battle ended on a good note, but seeing the result screen, it confirmed that I had not contributed much to the battle. The sweet feeling of victory only lasted until that point.
Well, we could win because we have a history of teamwork, but the level of this mission seemed very high. The other attendees seemed to agree that it was a difficult battle. It was surprising whenever that whale would suddenly appear! But the missions prior to this one didn’t have the same sort of dynamic or tricks to it, so by all means it’s something to enjoy. To those who defeated him and to those who unfortunately could not this time, please look forward to the upcoming release and try to defeat Monstro!
