Should Malecifent FINALLY die in KH3? And what will happen to Pete in the process?

​I think at this point and especially after the whole thing Maleficent and Pete are planning with the Black Box in KH3 that the witch needs to die. I mean I have no problem with Maleficent being involved with KH3 as my biggest problem with KH2 was that Maleficent felt like the "Team Rocket" of that game but after KH3 she better be flipping dead. It would be a little ridiculous if she was still around after the Xehanort Saga with Pete at her side. Plus maybe this would be the perfect opportunity to explain why maleficent is still alive after so many deaths and possibly even explain what Pete was doing within the events of KH1. And it would also open the window for a NEW Disney villain to pop up in KH4 to become Pete's so called boss. Or maybe Pete can just go solo after Maleficent's death and form his own "Legion of Doom" because lord knows Disney isn't going to allow Square to kill him off with him being a cartoonish Disney villain and all. After all, It would be nice to have a sort of side villain in KH4 along with the new Antagonist which I am totally calling that it's the MoM.

I would love to see the Emperor's New Groove in future KH titles but I don't think Yzma and Kronk should be used as such an important villain to replace someone like Maleficent plus I'd love to see it as a world more than anything. I feel like the best Square can do is make Pete solo or just he becomes the leader of a new group of villains for the next saga as I really can't think of anyone else who could rival Maleficent that is different and iconic. Or here's an idea that just popped into my head, maybe Pete can team up with another Disney character that being Oswald the Lucky rabbit? People have been wanting that character to appear in Kingdom Hearts for a while so maybe Square could pull it off like this but in a more interesting way. Now the reason why Oswald would be an antagonist would obviously be a play on how Mickey stole his popularity back in the day but that would of course not be the case in KH lol, square could probably make something up for themselves like Oswald was meant to be king of Disney Castle and he decided to get revenge on him for stealing that opportunity. Plus it would give Pete a purpose in future games as I honestly would be bummed if he just ran into hiding or hell even became on the side of Sora and crew.

But Kronk and Yzma would feel more like a comic relief in the games and Maleficent was always a really serious villain, honestly I don't think anyone else can replace her since as a character she is so strong and universal in the disney world. Kronk and Yzma would feel kinda off idk 

 

Maybe doctor Facilier could work as a replacement? Using his shadows and spreading darkness everywhere as a sucessor of Maleficent?

If you have chance to watch this an old 2014 video by the gamersjoint has shown voice actors for KH3 on IMBD website which was removed soon after listing. It lists jim hawkings from Treasure Planet which seems extremely believable now with two of roy conli films already in. And the great thing is which may be true now based on this, is that the voice actor of Kuzco was listed on the site too! I would love to see it in KH3 the world would be huge with all the environments in the film

I fully agree. the death of malificent would mark the end of the classic use of Disney in Kingdom hearts Of course many of it can and should come back I for exampel would like to see a silly symphonie world but for kingdom hearts 4 there should be a greater focus on modern works than there would be a clear distinction between the old and the new saga.

I feel like killing Maleficent again is the easy way out. Her arc should end with her being utterly defeated, knowing that she is simply not powerful enough to accomplish her goals in this day and age against the likes of Keyblade wielders. However, there would always be a glimmer of hope for her as she decides to enter into a bit of a hibernation period and simply bide her time until such an age when she may be able to do what she wants someday.

Well, when you talk about it like that, yeah, I can see what you mean. Still, it'd be interesting to see Yzma and Kronk be a thorn in Sora's side! But the question here is, what will Nomura have planned for Maleficent and Pete beyond KHIII, should they survive? That's the question!

 

And I like your idea about Oswald! A plotline about him having supposed to have been the original king, only for Mickey to become king could be an interesting arc to have, and it would probably give Oswald a lot of spotlight, considering that he's been out of it for a few years! I mean sure, people are just now starting to know that this guy came way before Mickey! Heck, I didn't know this myself until well over a year or two ago! Now that he's gaining popularity, having him appear in Kingdom Hearts would be the next step!

Yeah, I know what you mean! They'll be looking for the Black Box, which essentially is probably the Holy Grail of the Kingdom Hearts Universe, aside from the X-Blade, of course! But the thing here is, if they obtain it, does that mean they'll go head to head against Xehanort? Because he'd probably just destroy them without much effort, considering he used Maleficent to gather the Seven Princesses in the first Kingdom Hearts! So I'm curious just how much of a threat Maleficent and Pete will actually be in Kingdom Hearts III!

Oh, it'd definitely be insane if both Treasure Planet and Emperor's New Groove made it, but IMBD isn't actually the most credible source when it comes to these things! I mean sure, they may have some grain of truth to them, but honestly, I dunno! But still, it never hurts to dream!

Honestly, after the Dark Seeker Saga comes to an end, I really don't see much point in her being in KH after that. Because, even though she phases in and out of the direct storyline of the game, her own story and fate are still very closely tied to the events of the DSS. Either she will die for real along with Xehanort, or she will become lost in the darkness forever. Its very doubtful she will get any redemption in KH3, though hat is a possibility. 
As to Pete. Its a bit obvious that he will turn on her at some point. Either for his own ends or for the good of the Guardians. I doubt he will die though. At worst, he will get locked away again like he was before he escaped.

Pete can never die. He's an established part of the original Disney canon and he never dies in any movie or cartoon, unless there's a specific role for him that I'm unaware of where he "dies".

Yes, I agree! It's headcannon for me that Maleficent dies in KH3. It should be a tragic death. She needs to be Xehanorts direct rival and they both try to outsmart each other. In the end Xehanort wins and stabs her with his keyblade and she dies a meaningful death.

 

Not a death like "ugh I'm sorry for what I did to you Sora and friends" but more like "I hate you all and I don't regret anything you fools muhahahaha". Damn that would be epic. But I don't want it to be that simple, she needs to have a tragic backstory to explain why she became evil. Maybe she lost her home and that's why she tried to conquer worlds, to find a new home.

 

She also needs to protect Aurora from Xehanort, even if she wouldn't admit that she is doing it because Aurora means something to her. Maleficent would rather say she doesn't want Xehanort to succeed in collecting the 7 princesses of lights but in the end she did it because she loves her. ;_;

I doubt they would kill her off because she is a Disney character. Yes they kill her in her movie but even after her "death" her character is immortal. Same goes for any Disney villain. They are adored by a certain population and Square Enix would never want to give up that profit target.

I just had a thought on this. Remember how in the end Of Kingdom hearts 2, they helped sora out. What if in kh3, instead her dying, she decides that she doesn't want to destroy sora anymore. I am not saying she turns completely good. Just that she lost the will to do bad against sora. For example, what if sora saves her. It might be better than her being killed off. What do you think?
