I've been away for quite some time and I haven't made a topic for an even longer time . I am gonna get right into the topic : after watching the new trailer of the upcoming Kingdom Hearts 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue , I realised one thing and that is that I've lost my passion about the Kingdom Hearts series .

It's not really because of its compelling storyline . It's also not really because I do not own the consoles to actually play the games (3DS ,DS PS4) . I don't have the same excitement for this new title like the excitement I had for the releases of the previous additions in this awesome series (even if I couldn't buy them for the same reason above ). Now don't get me wrong I can't wait for Kingdom Hearts III and I believe that it's gonna sell like hot cakes . But after the introduction of Kingdom Hearts χ , I just don't feel the same way towards Kingdom Hearts . The storyline once again seems pretty mixed up to me even if pretty much nothing new has been added to it apart from how the Keyblade War started . I can't really appeal to any character or situation that's included in the game anymore .

I know that this is pretty weird coming from a guy that has been a KH13 member since 2012 . But I just wanted to get it out of my chest . I haven't really been visiting the site mainly because of me losing my passion for the series . Anyway, thanks for reading everyone and I hope you all have a nice day !

I know what you mean. I haven't had the same passion for the KH series as when I was eight years old when KH2 came out. I have move on to different interests like writing and comic books. But I still play the games every once in a while because they have a special place in my heart nostalgia-wise.

Trust me, I understand. The HD Remaster era along with KHX totally screwed with my excitement for the game. Feels like I'm being hammered to play 0.2 after having played KH3D for 2 years over 5 times. And the fact that I don't care to know the story of X even though I know it's important.

Ah well. I'll still be waiting for KH3D, but I don't have high hopes for 2.8.

it's understandable. KH probably one of the games with long story-arc, i meant we can tell by how each games related with each other. while some gamer getting excited following the stories, some might lost interest. well it's more than 10 years following certain game title to finish it's not a surprise the excitement might fade.

That's what happens when a major game in a series is announced too early. Nomura even said himself that Kingdom Hearts 3 should have been announced later, and I couldn't agree more.

In my opinion KH3 should've come out years earlier with BBS

I'm actually glad that the game is coming out so late, because a lot of what it's trying to do couldn't have been done last console generation, but I have to agree that it would have been better for the series and the fanbase as a whole if it had come out back then.

I don't see your point. My passion is still as strong as it ever was.

Some people like me don't really like the direction Nomura is going (I'm not speaking for the person who created this thread) I personally don't understand why Kingdom Hearts X needed to be part of KH3 story and why did it have to be important and not just an episode in the KH universe. I guess it was for 2.8.

The hole time travel in DDD came out of nowhere and made Xehanort basically a God and just being persistent to die, while I understand he needed to be the big villian for KH3 it should've been done different and not ''Dream Retcon Distance''

What I'm gonna say now sounds whiny but the series (in my eyes) doesn't feel like it got a big jump it still feels to me Square never left the PS2 era and tried to stay in an PS2.5 era but this is probably because of the handheld restrictions I think.

While I still ABSOLUTELY FREAKING love this series this is just getting kinda ridiculous

Feel free to disagree and I respect what you say and think!

Peace!

While your passion may still be a bright and furious flame, it won't be the same way for everyone. :/ Some don't like the direction the story is headed while others dislike just how many games there are, some for bad reasons ("Side Games" comes to mind) others for understandable ones like Nick here.

I haven't lost my love and excitement for the series, but I'm not going to be unable to understand others for not liking it as much because of my continuing passion, so you've left me somewhat confused as to how you don't see the OP's point. :/

Because he stopped having it because new games are coming out that he's not interested in. He said he lost interest after KHX, which is just weird to me. For a while, I was weirded out by KHX because I wasn't interested in it when it first came out but it didn't cause me to lose interest in the whole series. I can see if it just went away due to overexposure or whatever but idk. That's just weird to me.

I don't blame you. When I watched the first trailer for 2.8, I was so psyched up until the moment the scene from Unchained played, I didn't play that game at all so I was just like "wtf is this?!" It feels to me that it was just something shoved in for the sake of a mobile game, compared to the story and games so far it's so out of place. Not to mention that instead of answering already unanswered questions, now with Unchained there's MORE unanswered questions... But I'm placing my faith in BBS 0.2 because Aqua and at least it seems more likely to progress the story into KH3.  :P

I agree with you, BBS, DDD and Chi/Unchained have really bad stories that don't even grip you like the older games did.

KH1, KH2 and even Days and COM/RE:COM had heartwarming stories that really made you feel something. The newer games are pretty terrible and don't give the same magic that the older KH games did. They are filled with plotholes, retcons, annoying characters and they cram things in that clearly weren't meant to be there in the first place.

I've lost interest to a degree: with both money and me not caring as much being issues, I literally felt nothing about 2.8 from the get go. I do still enjoy the games, but I don't play them as much. As fun as the manga is, I don't read it as much as I used to, and the novels got three reads apiece, then retirement to the bookcase.

I do still care, just not like I once did: KH for me has become more of a fall back than obsession, the games mostly brought out when I'm feeling nostalgic, or just want to get lost in a game world for awhile.

So, in other words, the fandom is still there for me, but not front and center like it once was.

The hole time travel in DDD came out of nowhere and made Xehanort basically a God and just being persistent to die, while I understand he needed to be the big villian for KH3 it should've been done different and not ''Dream Retcon Distance''

Evidently, Square didn't learn their lesson after FF13-2.

If you nigh-instantly nullify pretty much everything the player's accomplished in multiple games throughout the years, don't be surprised if he/she just abandons ship due to sheer burnout.
