  6. Kingdom Hearts II featured in IGN's Top 100 RPGs of All Time; ranked as number 86

IGN has released an article of a list of what they consider to be the Top 100 RPGs of of all time. In this article, Kingdom Hearts II is featured and ranked as the 86th best RPG of all time.

Next to each game on the article, is a short summary of why the game is one of the top RPGs of all time and why it's on the list. Read Kingdom Hearts II's summary, written by IGN Associate Editor Jonathon Dornbush, below:

Kingdom Hearts 2 considerably ups the combat possibilities of its predecessor, introducing new forms — and snazzy new suits — for Sora to wear. The addition of the Reaction Command in combat also spices battles up, making for a combat experience made even more varied by the addition of the new Nobodies enemies. By streamlining some of the first Kingdom Heart's systems, including magic and the awful Gummi Ship levels — not to mention deepening the lore to stranger, more engaging depths — the first numbered sequel in the 15 year old franchise is still one of its strongest and one of the most fun to play.

  7. Kingdom Hearts II ranked 25th on Game Informer's Top 100 RPGs of All Time; Sora featured on June 2017 cover

Game Informer will feature a Top 100 RPGs of All Time list in the June 2017 issue. The cover for the issue has been revealed showing the major characters in many of the RPG-style games. Among these characters is Sora, wearing his Kingdom Hearts III attire, near the top of the front cover, just below the Game Informer title. You can see the full cover art, as well as close-ups of the cover art below:

The June 2017 issue of Game Informer will be available later this month.

UPDATE: Game Informer has revealed their Top 100 RPGs of All Time. Kingdom Hearts II takes the #25 spot. The description of this spot can be found below:

    PLATFORM: PS4 • PS3 • PS2

    RELEASE: 2006

Combining Square Enix with Disney in the original Kingdom Hearts was dangerous but successful. This gave Square the chance to dramatically improve the concept with a sequel. Kingdom Hearts II marked an apex for the series thanks to its improved mechanics and more interesting Disney worlds to visit. The story was also good, though it started to go off the rails toward the end.

Now, Diamond Select Toys have shown off improved versions of these figures at Chicago Comic & Entertainment Expo (C2E2) 2017. Last time they were shown, figures of Sora, Roxas, Axel, Mickey Mouse, Maleficent, Jafar, Iago, Abu, a Dusk Nobody, a Shadow Heartless, and a Creeper Plant Heartless were shown. This time, figures of Sora, Axel, Mickey Mouse, a Dusk Nobody, a Shadow Heartless, and a Soldier Heartless were shown. A Vinimate Sora can be seen in the back as well.

In the image, you can see some of the articulation of the figures. Not all of the figures will have the same amount of articulation, due to the size of the figures and due to how easy it is to hide the articulation in the sculpt. Expect to see 8 - 12 in the character figures, and little or none in the Heartless figures.

UPDATE 1: More detailed photos have been added of the Sora, Axel, Mickey Mouse, and the Soldier Heartless figures by Diamond Select Toys, which were featured about booth #817 at C2E2. You can view these images above.

UPDATE 2: The official Diamond Select Toys Twitter account has released an image of their Vinimates display at C2E2 2017 at their booth #817. In this display, you can see the Sora Vinimate and get a better look at him than in the previous photo. Sora can be seen on the third shelf down and to the right. View the image of the display below:

UPDATE 3: Thanks to @JayCochran on Twitter, we now have a new photo of the Sora figure and a new photo of the Mickey figure. View these images with the other images above.

UPDATE 4: New images of these figures and new information on these figures has been released. It's now known that these figures will be released in two packs which each contain three figures. The first pack will have Axel, Mickey Mouse, and a Shadow Heartless in it, while the other pack will have Sora, a Soldier Heartless, and a Dusk Nobody in it. The figures are between four and seven inches tall. They will be released Fall 2017, and both packs will be $25.00 USD. The figures are sculpted by Oluf Hartvigson, who's also done some work for one of the Star Wars lines at Sideshow Collectibles.

UPDATE: In the magazine, creator of Super Smash Bros., Masahiro Sakurai, shared his thoughts on the Kingdom Hearts series and its 15th anniversary. View his thoughts, translated by @KamennoOtoko on Twitter and provided by @AllSourceGaming on Twitter below:

Sakurai: Congratulations on your 15-year anniversary! (The Kirby series turns 25 this year, as it were.)
Although the nature of our respective games may differ, as someone who has also worked on several collaborative titles, I understand all too well how difficult they can be.
My hat goes off to Nomura and his staff for putting together a tale jam-packed with content every single time.
I look forward to another entry to the series!
