New Kingdom Hearts Unchained χ trailer premiered at Tokyo Game Show 2015 during Square Enix livestream
During a Tokyo Game Show livestream provided by Square Enix, a new Kingdom Hearts Unchained χ trailer premiered. This trailer featured both gameplay and cutscenes in a variety of worlds and new voiced dialogue from the character Chirithy.
Below is a video taken from the livestream, captured by News Team member Jake. The official trailer will be added as soon as it is available.
A translation of Chirithy's dialogue can also be found below, thanks to News Team member soraspromise.
This is where our story began. Based on the prophecy, the five disciples undertook missions from their master’s teachings and formed their own unions. After Heartless began to appear, they began to collect Keyblade wielders who shared their mindsets and asked them to collect the “light”.
This same dialogue can be found in the issue of Famitsu Weekly that released on September 17th, used as a description for Kingdom Hearts χ Back Cover which was announced to be a part of Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue at SCEJA's 2015 press conference.

A Guide to Understanding Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue's role in the Kingdom Hearts series
With the announcement of Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue coming in 2016, it's time to go make sense of all of the announcement details along with the 3 titles within the collection. For those of you who don't know, Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue is a collection containing Kingdom Hearts Dream Drop Distance HD, Kingdom Hearts χ Back Cover (cinematics), and Kingdom Hearts 0.2 Birth by Sleep -A Fragmentary Passage-. If you aren't familiar with the entire Kingdom Hearts series, here are the descriptions for the 3 main titles contained in the collection with it's history and stance in the Kingdom Hearts series.
Kingdom Hearts Dream Drop Distance HD:
:Kingdom Hearts Dream Drop Distance HD is an HD remaster of the original title, Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance. Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance was originally released on the Nintendo 3DS in 2012 and was the only major game within the Kingdom Hearts series that was not included in either Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX or Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMIX for the PlayStation 3. However, Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance is being remastered in HD on the PlayStation 4 as Kingdom Hearts Dream Drop Distance HD within the Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue collection. The original story of Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance takes place after the events of Kingdom Hearts Re:Coded, where Sora and Riku are summoned to take the Mark of Mastery exam, which determines who becomes the next Keyblade master. Sora and Riku are both tasked to dive into sleeping worlds and wake them from slumber, however Master Xehanort has other plans for the two as they are taking their exams.
Kingdom Hearts χ Back Cover:
The next title in the Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue collection is Kingdom Hearts χ Back Cover. Kingdom Hearts χ Back Cover is a cinematic movie in which explains the story of the original title, Kingdom Hearts χ[chi] and Kingdom Hearts Unchained χ. The cinematic movie will go into detail about the foretellers and the book of prophecies. Kingdom Hearts χ[chi] was originally released in 2013 on PC as a browser game, exclusively available to Japan. However a port for Kingdom Hearts χ[chi], which is titled Kingdom Hearts Unchained χ will allow everyone to experience the story of the original Kingdom Hearts χ[chi] on mobile devices such as tablets and smartphones. The story follows 5 foretellers who are sanctioned under a union, forming 5 total unions. Among the foretellers is a traitor, which has not yet been revealed. However, many have theorized who the traitor is.
Kingdom Hearts 0.2 Birth by Sleep -A Fragmentary Passage-:
The third and final title in the Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue collection is Kingdom Hearts 0.2 Birth by Sleep -A Fragmentary Passage-. In the original title, Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep: Final Mix, there was a secret ending within the sercret episode of the game that stated a continuation of the story will be developed. Many interviews in 2011 discussed the title, which was named Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep -Volume Two-. It was apparent that the project was put off, however has returned as Kingdom Hearts 0.2 Birth by Sleep -A Fragmentary Passage-. Reasons for why Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep -Volume Two- was put off and why the title was changed is currently unknown. Kingdom Hearts 0.2 Birth by Sleep -A Fragmentary Passage- follows the events of Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep and continues the story on as Master Aqua. Also tied in is the events after Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance in which King Mickey reveals he has some secrets to confess to Sora. According to the screenshot contained in the Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue trailer, it seems apparent that the title is using the same engine as Kingdom Hearts III. Square Enix has also confirmed that Kingdom Hearts 0.2 Birth by Sleep -A Fragmentary Passage- will contribute towards the story for Kingdom Hearts III, which is the end of the Xehanort saga.
For those that don't know, Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue is the third HD collection in the Kingdom Hearts series, following Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX and Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMIX. Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX contains the original titles of Kingdom Hearts, Kingdom Hearts Re: Chain of Memories, and Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days (HD Cinematics) all remastered in HD. Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMIX contains the original titles of Kingdom Hearts II, Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep, and Kingdom Hearts Re:Coded (HD Cinematics) all remastered in HD.
What are your thoughts on Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue? Do you think this will be the biggest HD collection yet? Let us know in the comments below or post on our Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue forums!

Kingdom Hearts Unchained χ confirmed for release outside of Japan & NA via Australian Classification Board rating
The Australian Classification Board has rated Kingdom Hearts Unchained χ "G", for everyone. This rating, which appeared on the online database on September 3, 2015, is the first indication that Kingdom Hearts Unchained χ will be releasing outside of Japan and North America. An Australian release is now all but confirmed, and with that we can also assume a European release. However, it is still unclear if the game will be localised into other European languages.
Thanks to KHInsider for the tip, you can see a screenshot of the game's Australian rating information below:

In the credits for Kingdom Hearts Unchained χ, found under settings we have noticed Success Corporation, the developers of Kingdom Hearts χ[chi] were one again contracted by Square Enix to co-develop Kingdom Hearts Unchained χ for iOS & Android. However, unlike Kingdom Hearts χ[chi] which was handled by Square Enix's Business Division 11, Square Enix's Business Division 3 were working on this title.
Business Division 3 is of course the Business Division where the Kingdom Hearts team is hard at work on Kingdom Hearts III. Square Enix also has two other titles in development in BD3 with the 25th anniversary title for SaGa and World of Final Fantasy. Don't be confused though, these are different teams. Shinji Hashimoto is the corporate executive of Business Division 3.

[Updated] Story update on Kingdom Hearts χ[chi] + Linking avatars from Kingdom Hearts χ[chi] to Unchained χ
During the last maintenance period on August 20th, it was revealed that a new story update would be implemented within Kingdom Hearts χ[chi]. As of the maintenance period on September 3rd, the story was indeed updated on Kingdom Hearts χ[chi]. As you go to Daybreak Town you will encounter a new scene in the game between Ephemera and one of the foretellers. Interestingly enough, it seems that the foreteller for Vulpes' name was revealed within the story update. The name appears to be "Ava". Along with the name "Ava" being revealed, a cutscene within the game shows Ephemera disappearing in the form of dandelions within your player's dream.
In the maintenance period, information on linking avatars from Kingdom Hearts χ[chi] to Kingdom Hearts Unchained χ was also given. Some notes on avatar linking is only one Kingdom Hearts χ[chi] and Kingdom Hearts Unchained χ account per avatar linking. A new development communication has been posted to the Square Enix Bridge website by Kingdom Hearts series director, Tetsuya Nomura. This communication goes into detail about the types and number of quests you will see in Kingdom Hearts Unchained χ, the updates they plan to make monthly, and how the story may tie into future of the Kingdom Hearts series.
Translations can be found below, thanks to goldpanner!:
KINGDOM HEARTS Unchained χ
-A Message From The Director-
A new Kingdom Hearts has finally begun.
An event that has been spoken of many times so far: the Keyblade War.
Players can personally experience the story leading up to it as a character in the world of KH by becoming a Keyblade Wielder in Kingdom Hearts χ[chi] for PC browsers, which is currently in-service, and now in Kingdom Hearts Unchained χ.
First, so that you may grow as a Keyblade Wielder, we have prepared 200 main quests for you.
These main quests are added every month, so please continuing to clear them and come closer to the truth about the Keyblade War.
In the preceding Kingdom Hearts χ[chi], this month we will approach a development story-wise.
We will approach that development in Kingdom Hearts Unchained χ too anyway, but I think you will come even closer to the truth when the two χ's overlap.
Also, influencing the world of χ are new characters such as the Foretellers, Chirithy and Ephemera. Exactly how will they exist in the main KH series after this? This too is why I think experiencing the world of χ for yourself will allow you to enjoy the KH series even more.
We have plans to add various content in the future in order for you to enjoy a rich in variety, KH-esque game, so I hope that you will stay with us for a long journey.
The latest information is currently being announced as necessary by the people managing the official twitter. They are not answering questions, but I do recommend following them. I also appear there to give informal content, on the rare occasion.
Kingdom Hearts Series Director Tetsuya Nomura
-About Future Updates-
[About New Main Quests]
Regarding main quests, we plan to add 50 stages each month until around Jan 2016.
Even on weeks that a new main quest isn't added, we will aimi to update with things each week for everyone to enjoy, such as additional incredibly challenging event quests.
[About Content That Will Be Renewed Each Month]
The Coliseum and Raid Bosses will be renewed into new seasons at the start of each month.
Each new season will see some adjustments when it begins, so that you may push yourselves to aim higher each month and feel the joy of working together.
We still can't give details, but we are planning to add a very large function once it becomes necessary for added stages. Also, we plan to add events and avatar items that match with the season of the year.
Other than that, we aim to improve the quality of the game by adding highly-requested improved functions and features that are even more useful.
We look forward to your continued support of Kingdom Hearts Unchained χ.

Presenting the first title in the Kingdom Hearts (hereon KH) series developed for smartphone, to begin service in September!
Kingdom Hearts Unchained X
*Screens are from a work in progress.
See the history that led up to the very first event in the timeline of the KH series, the 'Keyblade War', in Kingdom Hearts Unchained X. Service is planned to begin in September and is currently accepting pre-registrations, so we will tell you about the basic gameplay and the flow of the game, as well as new information our writer has ascertained from an actual play!
> FIRST CREATE YOUR OWN PLAYER
[Pre-registration information is on the official site! http://www.square-en....jp/kingdom/uc]
> When you start a game, you create an avatar and select the Union you will align with. It's possible to change it after that, but to switch Unions you need jewels (=in-game currency).
PREPARE FOR YOUR ADVENTURE IN DAYBREAK TOWN
Daybreak town serves as the home base for the Keyblade Wielders such as the player. Here you can customise your Keyblade, check the rankings, get medals at the shop, and speak with party members. Align yourself with huge parties of up to 30 people and you can work together to face the giant Raid Bosses. You should join parties that match your own play style.
> Party guidelines on things such as frequency of play etc. vary. It's okay to create your own party and recruit members, and it's also ok to to look at recruitments and participate in them.
YOU CAN EXCHANGE INFO WITH PARTY MEMBERS IN A CHAT
> You can exchange information with your party members in a chat, where you can also use stickers such as
> There's also a feature called the 'Avatar Board', where you can gain avatar abilities and outfits using the avatar coins you obtain from clearing stages etc.
[GAMA DATA: Kingdom Hearts Unchained X (Key) | Maker: Square Enix | Service to run: Estimated to begin September | Price: Free to play (in-app purchases) | Genre: RPG | Cero: ---- | Creators: Director Tetsuya Nomura, Producer Hironori Okayama]
GO ALONG STRENGTHENING YOUR KEYBLADE AND MEDALS
As mentioned, battles are fought using the medals you have set to your Keyblade. Medals have set statuses such as rare abilities, type affinities, cost, abilities, and skills, and you can raise their rarity by putting special medals into them after maximising their levels through synthesis. You should nurture your favourite medals and use them for a long time.
> Raise the rarity of a medal and the properties will change, of course, and its appearance may also change.
> The level of a medal can be raised by synthesising it with other medals. Munny (money) is also necessary for synthesis and evolution.
NURTURE MEDALS WITH AN UNDERSTANDING OF THEIR INDIVIDUALITY
KEYBLADES ALSO CHANGE APPEARANCE WHEN STRENGTHENED
> Strengthen your Keyblade with the materials obtained as rewards from quests. Pass certain levels to unlock more slots to put your medals in.
EXHILARATING BATTLES WITH SIMPLE CONTROLS
> In battles, tap to perform a single attack with the Keyblade, and flick to execute an area attack. You can also utilise strong abilities held by medals.
QUESTS YOU CAN PLAY SMOOTHLY AND QUICKLY
Progress through the game by clearing quests. Each quest is cleared by defeating a set target enemy. They all only take a short amount of time to do, and being able to pick it up and play in any small moment of free time is nice. Also, each quest has three set challenges, and if you fulfil them you will receive a reward. This is something extra to enjoy that extends playability.
> Your avatar moves to where you touch on the screen. When your avatar touches a glowing point, you can get material items that correspond to the place.
EXPLORE EVERY NOOK AND CRANNY OF THE STAGE
> Choose the quest you want to try from from the lineup at the bottom of the screen. You can see the content of the challenges and the affinities of the target enemy, so you should prepare accordingly each time.
CLEAR TO GET REWARDS!
> You will receive the challenge rewards when you clear the quest. You may also obtain titles.
MAKE YOUR WAY THROUGH QUESTS AND RAID BOSSES APPEAR
> Raid Bosses appear suddenly and interrupt your progression through the quest. You won't be able to continue the quest until it is defeated or until it disappears after a certain amount of time!
> There are many merits in defeating them. Work together with your party members and aim to defeat it!
[Impressions you didn't ask for: smooth and stress-free! | What surprised me during my play was the overall smoothness, you don't even feel load times. The battles are turn-based with an eye on action, and there's also an element of strategising in deliberately arranging attacks to aim for 'one turn finishes' where you defeat the enemy in one turn. HP fully regenerates after each battle, so you don't have to bother with healing. It's very well thought out!]

Character customisation details revealed for Kingdom Hearts Unchained χ, players can change gender & appearance at any time, + new screenshots
Tetsuya Nomura, the director of the Kingdom Hearts series, has announced some new character customisation details for Kingdom Hearts Unchained χ via the game's official Twitter account. The player will have the ability to change their face, hair color, outfits and gender at any given time within the game, rather than just at the start of the game as in Kingdom Hearts χ[chi]. Other details were revealed, including that the game is in its last stage of fine-tuning before services are commenced.
You can read full translations of each tweet below thanks to goldpanner and KH13 Kingdom Hearts χ Team member Aru Akise.
Tweet 26: The truth is that yesterday, I forgot to override the on button because I was in a hurry. So what was left had low probability and losing 20 skills left me in shock. Certainly everyone will not make my mistake, so please excuse my error.
Tweet 27: This original world is Daybreak Town, its distinct structure of little staircases and streets and many highs and lows make it very pleasing to me. Those thoughts aside, especially in times of battle, it is wise to use auto-attack. It is convenient at times for an easy victory.
Tweet 28: Aside from publicity, what’s behind the introduction? After speaking about the place and what event scene to talk about, because it was a moving picture we decided to introduce the event scene at another time. This photo is my favorite one from what I took this morning.
Tweet 29: A little while ago, because of the staff got angry, I laughed and tried to fix the situation. Event scenes are animations organized in a certain way, there are two different types of conversations that can happen during events. 2 before [auto-attack] there was an error. Excuse me.
Tweet 30: The story focuses on 5 foretellers, who each organize their own unions to collect light (lux) in an attempt to change the future from ruins. There is a lot of mystery surrounding the tale that began in KHχ, but KHUχ will be a fresh start that brings everything together and further develops it.Spoiler

In the latest issue of Famitsu Weekly, the upcoming iOS and Android title, Kingdom Hearts Unchained χ was featured. Within the issue of Famitsu Weekly, details were given about the upcoming title such as it's medals system and the Keyblade upgrade system. As you play through Kingdom Hearts Unchained χ you can make your character stronger by strengthening your medals abilities and upgrading your Keyblade. In the issue they also explain how the controls in the game are optimized for smartphones and other mobile devices as well as going into detail about Kingdom Hearts χ[chi]'s 2nd anniversary, in which the game was originally released in July 2013. You can view a translation of the Famitsu Weekly scan below thanks to goldpanner as well as screenshots within the scan.
The world of Kingdom Hearts (hereon KH) expands onto smartphones.
Kingdom Hearts Unchained χ
Kingdom Hearts Unchained χ is a title that allows you to experience the 'Keyblade War' mentioned in-game in the KH series. As the wielder of the Keyblade, a key-shaped sword, the player goes around the worlds. The controls have been optimised for smartphones, and the battles that allow you to feel exhilarated in a short time are also attractive. The Keyblade can be strengthened, and the user-friendliness can be improved depending on customisation. In this issue, we'd like to explain the setup behind that.
Become stronger along with your Keyblade!
Keyblades have several slots open. The setup involves filling them with medals to open the possibility to use attacks and strong abilities. Also, strengthen the Keyblade and you will gain benefits that connect to your fighting power, such as increasing the number of slots. You can't skip this element of gameplay if you want to overcome battles.
Unleash the medal abilities in battle!
In the battles in this title, you can unleash the techniques of the medals on your Keyblade one after another simply by tapping or holding the screen. Fulfil the requirements, and by holding and flicking the medal in the bottom left of the screen, you can set off powerful abilities such as the ones shown here. If you use a technique with an attribute that is effective against the enemy's attribute there will be even more of an impact.
Kingdom Hearts χ browser version service reaches second year anniversary!
KHχ is the PC browser game that serves as the base for KH Unchained χ. As the predecessor of KH Unchained χ, it has been in service since July 2013. In KHχ there is currently a campaign to commemorate the second year anniversary of the service having begun, and various events are underway. If you haven't played it before, how about taking this as your opportunity to try it out?

Stay tuned though, there's more– we're very excited to announce that we, along with many other fansites in the Kingdom Hearts space, had the chance to interview the director of the Kingdom Hearts series, Tetsuya Nomura!
Churro, representing KH13, along with Mike & Andy from DisneyExaminer, Alex from Kingdom Hearts Destiny, Branden from Kingdom Hearts Union, and Cecily, Sophearum and Arielle from KHInsider all participated in a roundtable discussion with Nomura, and were able to ask him a number of questions about Kingdom Hearts. With a big thanks to Square Enix and Tetsuya Nomura, here it is!
--How did magic evolve for Kingdom Hearts 3?
Nomura: When it comes to magic in Kingdom Hearts 3, we really wanted to try to leave an effect on the surrounding environment. In the trailer when Sora would cast Blizzard, the blast would leave behind a sheet of ice for Sora to slide on, and when he cast Aero in a field, the wind would make an impression in the grass.
We are hoping to achieve those types of lasting effects in the world with the new magic skills, so please look forward to them.
--Are there any plans for further communication with fans online as a means of delivering news, such as through livestreaming (example: Final Fantasy’s Letter to the Producer / Active Time Report) or the Message to the Kingdom blog?
Nomura: Unfortunately, that is not possible for us. The reason for this is because of the risks involved when we actually do livestreaming for Kingdom Hearts. While we are able to hold livestreams frequently for Final Fantasy, it is a much more different process with due consideration to Disney. Even participating in Square Enix Presents here at E3 is a very delicate situation due to the risk of revealing information accidentally.
--What was your inspiration for Chirithy in Kingdom Hearts X[chi]?
Nomura: When we were developing Kingdom Hearts X[chi], the development staff really wanted to introduce a guide for the Player character that would aid them throughout their journey. I thought a lot about how this character would appear as. This all took place before I acquired my own cats, but I had always wanted a Scottish Fold and decided to create Chirithy based off of that breed.
--How do you select which attractions to use for Attraction Flow, and which rides do you like the best?
Nomura: We look at all the attractions in the Disney parks worldwide, particularly the ones that appear to be popular. We revealed a new Attraction Flow in the latest trailer based off of the Mad Tea Party with Sora, Donald and Goofy spinning around in teacups, but I was actually very surprised by the overwhelming positive feedback from the Western fans for them, as they are not as flashy as the other rides.
As for my favorite rides, I really like Disney World’s Tower of Terror and Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster.
--In Kingdom Hearts I & II we were used to have a Disney character joining our party in each new world Sora and his friends visit. Will this mechanic be present in Kingdom Hearts 3?
Nomura: Right, the idea of having a Disney character joining your party was an important part of KH 1 & 2, so, yes you will be able to have Disney characters joining your team across the game, not just as a temporary party member in the worlds, but also as summons.
--How is the Kingdom Shader being used in Kingdom Hearts 3?
Nomura: The goal of the Kingdom Shader is to evoke the feel of the brush paintings in each unique Disney world, just as we had always aimed to do. We are working to accomplish all of these different styles so that they will be properly reflected in each world in order to do the Disney properties justice, and we also have to decide if we will use them or go for a more realistic shader in certain worlds. The original worlds, however, will continue to use the same style.
--How was your time at E3? Were you able to check out any other games?
Nomura: Unfortunately I was too busy with interviews and was not able to see the other games being exhibited. I did, however, watch the first party press conferences online. I particularly liked Guerrilla Game’s Horizon: Zero Dawn and Ubisoft’s Tom Clancy’sGhost Recon.
--Was Kingdom Hearts 3 always planned to be released for the new generation of consoles?
Nomura: To be honest, it was not. It just so happened that the timing happened to work out in this situation. When the time came that we were ready and able to begin work on Kingdom Hearts 3, the Playstation 4 and Xbox One had just been introduced, so the best decision for us was to develop KH3 for the new consoles.

Lastly, Churro was also lucky enough to get his KH13 press badge signed by the man himself! This can be seen below.
