Exclusive canon back story for Kingdom Hearts III shown at Kingdom Hearts Orchestra - World Tour - in Japan
During the Kingdom Hearts Orchestra - World Tour - in Japan, the Japanese voice actress of Kairi and Xion, Rise Uchida, came onstage and performed lines. The Japanese voice actress for Aqua, Megumi Toyoguchi, later came onstage and performed some lines as well. These lines are canon to the story of Kingdom Hearts and explain some back story for Kingdom Hearts III.
You can view the translated Kairi lines thanks to @momo_krys on Twitter below:
I didn't notify you but you might've already heard from Yen Sid-sama.
I've come to train to become a Keyblade wielder.
Until now, I've only been waiting for you guys to come back from your journey.
Maybe with this I can at least help out a little.
The magician Merlin-sama can use magic that surpasses time.
Here, we can forget about the flow of time.
Isn't it great?
Lea's training with me.
He apologized to me over and over again.
But he'd keep on apologizing...
At first I was a bit scared but
As we trained together we started talking to each other.
I found out Lea also has a best friend he wants to save.
I felt like, he's not a person that I can bring myself to hate...
Sometimes..... He'd stare at my face
So I'd ask him, what's wrong?
"I don't know, but I feel like it's something I must recall", He'd say...
Your journey is a journey that will help many people
and the people you'll meet from now on
I have a feeling these people you meet will also need your help
The journey might be hard but
Please stay as the cheerful and bright Sora I know
Because your smile, will save many hearts.....
You can view the translated Xion lines thanks to @momo_krys on Twitter below:
On the day you first called my name
It made me feel like I had a heart
If I hadn't met the two of you
I wonder how my "everyday" would've been.
Day by day, repeating the days which were the same as every other,
The red, setting sun,
The taste of ice cream.
Those days when nothing happened were the most precious to me
All of it is my treasure.
Thank you for calling out my name.
Thank you for inviting me to the clocktower.
Thank you for picking up shells for me.
Thank you for coming to bring me back.
Thank you for letting me be your friend.
I wish... those same old days could have continued on longer....
We wanted to go to the sea....
@momo_krys hasn't translated Aqua's lines, but he says they were pretty much something like "Ven, Terra, become the light that will guide me through the darkness!" He says that it was essentially just her saying that she wanted Ventus and Terra to guide her in her darkness and to become the light that shines her path.
If you didn't know, last year during the Kingdom Hearts Concert - First Breath - in Japan, a similar situation to this happened. The Japanese voice actor of Terra and the Japanese voice actress of Naminé came onstage and performed some canon lines for Terra and Naminé. You can view those lines here.
UPDATE 1: View images of Kairi and Xion's voice actress, Rise Uchida, and Aqua's Japanese voice actress, Megumi Toyoguchi, performing their lines thanks to Game Watch below:
UPDATE 2: For all the other orchestras around the world, they played recordings of these voices with English subtitles. The recording of Kairi's voice played while Dearly Beloved played, the recording of Xion's voice played while Vector to the Heavens played, and the recording of Aqua's voice played while Wave of Darkness played.

Concept art for Disney's cancelled iOS/Android Kingdom Hearts game revealed, including Wreck it Ralph, Frozen, Tangled & Star Wars worlds
Yesterday, we discovered that Disney was developing a Kingdom Hearts title for iOS and Android in 2013 called Kingdom Hearts: Fragmented Keys, which has since been cancelled. Today, we've found out via Philip Cruden's LinkedIn page that the company Go For Launch Productions, also known as GFL Animation Studios, were in charge of creating locations and character designs for Disney Interactive's upcoming Kingdom Hearts online game between September 2011 and March 2013.
The official website for GFL Animation Studios has two pages about their work for Disney Interactive and Kingdom Hearts, and these pages contain a huge amount of information, as well as over 100 pieces of concept art for the cancelled title. The two pages are titled "Disney Kingdom Hearts" and "Kingdom Hearts App Game", and together seem to show a very rough, initial concept for GFL's vision of Disney Interactive's Kingdom Hearts game.
The game was to have "several Kingdom Hearts heroes" (these seem to be original characters) transported to Disney worlds through a Grand Central like station, where they would join forces with the heroes of those worlds in battle arenas to defeat their enemies. These worlds included ones based on Aladdin, Alice in Wonderland, Peter Pan, Snow White, Wreck It Ralph, Frozen, Lilo and Stitch, Star Wars, Tron and Tangled, all represented in the concept art for the game. An original town was also created called "New Town". All concept art can be seen below, originally sourced from the GFL Animation Studios website.
- Original concept art
- Game Hubs concept art
- Aladdin concept art
- Alice in Wonderland concept art
- Peter Pan concept art
- Snow White concept art
- New Town concept art
- Wreck It Ralph concept art
- Frozen concept art
- Lilo & Stitch concept art
- Star Wars concept art
- Tron concept art
- Tangled concept art
It is unclear if all of these worlds made it past the concept/design stage that GFL Animation Studios were working on, but it is clear that Disney Interactive were working with GFL on this concept art for their upcoming Kingdom Hearts app, and that game designers and Disney executives from both the United States and Japan were all involved.
Here are the full descriptions for the concept art:
The concepts for this game was to have several Kingdom Hearts heroes transported to the worlds of our favorite Disney Characters. Traveling through a Grand Central like station our heroes could visit any Disney world of their choosing and join forces with the heroes of those worlds to defeat their enemies. Below is a collection of concept and game play design work. We also created “World Tour” video that introduced the Kingdom Hearts characters to the Disney worlds and culminated in a game play simulation battle on the rooftops of Peter Pan’s London, England. The video formed a large part of a video presentation given to Disney US and Disney Japan executives.
Go For Launch Productions, in association with CgMations in Ireland, designed numerous characters and sets for Disney’s new Kingdom Hearts game. The concept was simple; bring the beloved Kingdom Hearts’ characters into the iconic worlds of Disney. The characters of Wreck It Ralph, Frozen, Lilo and Stitch, Star Wars, Tron, Tangled and more, were all to do battle with the Kingdom Hearts heroes against epic foes! On this project we re-imagined the classic Disney worlds as game play battle arenas and worked with the game designers to create fun and challenging game play scenarios.
[Here] is a selection of concept and game play design work.
Update: We've got twenty more concept art images showing battles on London rooftops, most likely from Neverland. You can view them here. Thanks go to KH13 member Roxasman1231 for the tip.

[Updated] Utada Hikaru officially announces her return to music, new album to be released on September 28th
Update 1: On April, 3rd 2016, a new theme song for a Japanese TV show called Toto Nee-chan was uploaded to YouTube. This theme song, titled "Hanataba o Kimi ni", was performed by Utada Hikaru, thus officially putting Hikaru back on the music scene! You can view the video and hear the song below thanks to YouTube user halkichi sakamoto:
Update 2: Utada Hikaru has officially updated her YouTube channel with two songs, Manatsu no Toriame and Hanataba wo kimi ni. None of the songs are related to Kingdom Hearts. You can listen to both songs below:
Manatsu no Toriame
Hanataba wo kimi ni
Update 3: On July 8th 2016, Hikaru's website was updated with news of the release date for her new album set for September 28th of this year. This is her first original full album since her last Japanese-language album Heart Station released 8 years ago. The new album, title unannounced, will include previously-released tracks such as "Hanataba o Kimi ni","Manatsu no Toriame", and "Sakura Nagashi."
The original article follows.
In celebration of the musician's return, she has launched a new website that features an animated Cherry Blossom tree. As fans use a special hashtag on Twitter (#おかえりHIKKI or #WelcomebackHIKKI) or as fans buy her new songs, the animated tree will grow more and more flowers. This is a charity event called the "New-Turn" project. Money raised as part of this project will go toward planting cherry blossom trees in areas affected by the 2011 Tohaku earthquake and tsunami.
Of course, this does not confirm Hikaru's involvement in Kingdom Hearts III, but her official return to music is certainly a good sign. Now that Utada Hikaru has officially returned to music, what are your hopes for her involvement in Kingdom Hearts III? Would you like to see her return, or would you rather have someone else? Let us know in the comments below!

At the Monaco Anime Game International Conference (MAGIC), Kingdom Hearts series director Tetsuya Nomura held a presentation on his career. This presentation included a brief mention of Kingdom Hearts III, with a new screenshot being shown. (via @TheSharePlayers)
In this screenshot, we can see Sora in Olympus Colosseum using Guard Form with a new shield-based transformation for an unrevealed Keyblade. He also appears to be battling a new type of Heartless. Additionally, one of the command menu slots displays the word "Link", possibly as part of this new transformation. Finally, the wording for the yellow gauge near Sora's health has been changed from "EX" (as seen in the Jump Festa 2015 trailer) to "Focus", matching the format seen in Kingdom Hearts 0.2 Birth by Sleep -A Fragmentary Passage-.
A close-up shot of Guard Form can be seen below, thanks to @RedMakuzawa.
Unfortunately, no new trailer is confirmed at the moment according to @RedMakuzawa. Only the screenshot was shown at the presentation.
What do you think of this new screenshot? Share your thoughts in the comment section below!
UPDATE 1: A higher quality, direct feed image of the screenshot can now be seen thanks to the official Kingdom Hearts twitter account.
According to Gameblog.fr, Nomura stated the screenshot takes place in the city of Thebes. The Keyblade has the ability to change into a lot of things, some of which are the aforementioned shield and a chariot. He also clarified that the new form in the screenshot is the Power Form, which contradicts the information that we received last time about Power Form. We'll bring clarification as soon as we get it.
UPDATE 3: The quote from Tetsuya Nomura regarding Power Form has been translated and clarified thanks to Dandelion from KHInsider.
This is the first time we're showing this screenshot of Kingdom Hearts III, it's happening in Thebes and they are fighting a new type of Heartless. The Keyblade can transform into a lot of things. When in Power Form it can be changed into a chariot.

New Kingdom Hearts series memorial stained glass clock to be showcased on January 9, 2017 at Shinjuku Station in Japan for series 15th anniversary
Square Enix has just updated their Japanese Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue website with a link to a new memorial site for the Kingdom Hearts series 15th Anniversary containing details on a new Kingdom Hearts series memorial stained glass clock. This stained glass clock will be showcased at Shinjuku Station in Japan from January 9th, 2017 until January 15th, 2017 as part of the series' 15th anniversary. It will also feature a large video screen featuring moments from the Kingdom Hearts and a mural honoring characters and moments from the series.
The website features the tagline "The story starts moving again."
Pictures, such as Kingdom Hearts characters from the past 15 years were also exhibited. Check it out below. This will be exhibited as a mural painting.
There is also a Twitter campaign related to the memorial clock. The campaign invites people to take pictures in person with the memorial clock or to use one of the prepared stained glass images given on the official site with the hashtag #キングダムハーツ15周年.
All promotional images including the poster for the Twitter campaign can be found below thanks to 4Gamer.
UPDATE 1: The Kingdom Hearts Memorial Clock is now set up and open to the public! The website has also been updated to include a virtual version of the clock featuring all the games in the Kingdom Hearts series with short video clips and images. They've also added a link to easily participate in the previously mentioned Twitter campaign if you cannot make it to the Memorial Clock in person. A video and image of the Memorial Clock have been provided thanks to Twitter user @pi_su05 and more images of the display have been provided thanks to Twitter users @mti_k_h, @Soichiro_Sun, @Jixon_Livermore, and @adachi813! Thank you to Churro and KH Destiny for the tips!
UPDATE 2: There are a few comments by series director Tetsuya Nomura that have appeared on the video screens at the Exhibit! Images are thanks to Twitter users @ArikaMiz and @sonzaisinaimono and English translations have been provided by Catherine Mueller (email@example.com).
For the game player, the Final Fantasy characters are their childhood friends, but that's not the same for the Kingdom Hearts characters we introduced. They're original in their birth and ages, and we introduced them with a different goal in mind. I think that the individuality of these characters and meeting them is one adventure to look forward to.
--Kingdom Hearts Series Director, Nomura Tetsuya
We received a feeling of exhilaration with a simple creation. We've been working on this concept for a long time. Even for people who aren't good at games, just by touching it, you can run around as you please, and you can bring forth flashy, beautiful effects like falling branches. The battles tend to be brutal, but I think the item that will help you avoid feeling that is the Keyblade.
--Kingdom Hearts Series Director, Nomura Tetsuya
Even if you try to live a just life these days, just by that you'll wear yourself out. The feeling of leaving the road you should travel on is a strangely sweet one. I think that's the kind of existence they have.
--Kingdom Hearts Series Director, Nomura Tetsuya
I say that “Sora is a normal boy,” but there are surely people who feel uneasy about that statement. He holds many hearts inside of him and continues adventures through a dream-like world--how is that “normal”? By putting it simply, surely everyone lives while feeling the emotions in someone else's heart, and they should all be on their own adventure. With that in mind, Sora is just like any other boy. From here on, just like everyone else, Sora will have many experiences, and as he experiences empathy he surely will grow, but I think he will remain a normal boy in everyone's hearts.
--Kingdom Hearts Series Director, Nomura Tetsuya
UPDATE 3: Famitsu has reported that the Kingdom Hearts Memorial Clock exhibit has 5 themes: "Sora's memories", "Ones who doesn't exist", "Keyblade", "Final Fantasy", and "The World of Kingdom Hearts".
UPDATE 4: The Kingdom Hearts Memorial Clock Twitter campaign winners have received their memorial clocks on March 31st! View images of them below, provided by @Yamato_exe1126, @carie810, @peto_margherita, @sakuny_heart, and @Noir_plus on Twitter:

Disney was developing a Kingdom Hearts title for iOS & Android named "Kingdom Hearts: Fragmented Keys" in 2013, since cancelled
A former programmer at Disney Interactive has revealed the name and details of a cancelled Kingdom Hearts title. The game was called "Kingdom Hearts: Fragmented Keys", and is said to have been deep in development during 2013 by Wideload Games, a studio of Disney Interactive. Kingdom Hearts: Fragmented Keys was being developed using Unity and C#, and would have been released for the iPhone, iPad and Android markets if it weren't for its cancellation sometime early 2014.
Kingdom Hearts: Fragmented Keys was to be a "mobile, free-to-play action RPG", and from the game's development summary, we know that it would have at least contained items, crafting, an inventory, user interface, and networked high score portions. Unfortunately, no more details about the game are known.
Working at Disney Interactive (Wideload Games Studio):
Worked in a small studio setting creating mobile video games using Unity and C# that targeted the iPhone / iPad / Android markets. [...] I assisted with prototyping and implementation of the item, crafting, inventory, user interface, and networked high score portions of a mobile Kingdom Hearts action RPG title. Additionally, I created multiple debugging tools, including a network logging service that allowed games running wireless to automatically send debugging information to a central location.
Summary of the game:
Kingdom Hearts: Fragmented Keys
A mobile, free to play action rpg for iOS and Android phones, written with Unity and C#. The project was deep into development before being cancelled several months after I left the studio.
It is unknown if Kingdom Hearts: Fragmented Keys is related to Kingdom Hearts Online, another Kingdom Hearts title that was revealed by a former Disney Interactive employee in 2013. Kingdom Hearts Online was being developed by South Korean studio "Studio EX" for Disney Interactive, as early as January 2013 and at least until November 2013, also using Unity for development and targeting "smartphones and the web". Due to the two different studios involved and different titles for the games, it seems as if these are two separate cancelled projects, both in 2013 and both managed by Disney Interactive.
Also, as a side note: u/NDABreaker2 on reddit today has claimed to have come across a leaked screenshot of the cancelled game.
There is no proof that this is a legitimate screenshot, so unlike the above verified information, this screenshot is not verified at all.We have contacted the reddit user and they have privately given us solid proof that this screenshot and information is legitimate. Nonetheless, here it is.
Note: We have removed some details from this article on request.

Director and writer of scrapped Kingdom Hearts animated series posts picture of a completed tape and speaks of interest for future projects in reference to Kingdom Hearts III
Seth Kearsley, the director and writer of the scrapped animated series for Kingdom Hearts posted an image of a tape with footage from the show. You can find an image of the tape below:
Seth then went on to speak with Twitter user @SHIELD_DRAWS, who asked several questions about the scrapped series as well as the possibility of an animated series tie-in with Kingdom Hearts III, referencing the Brotherhood anime that was produced for Final Fantasy XV.
Seth went on to explain that all characters were voiced by their original voice actors and had completed recording with the exception of Sora, who was to be voiced by a sound-alike for Haley Joel Osment. Seth also answered that he has talked with Walt Disney Animation Studios about the possibility of another project, but that there doesn't seem to be much interest at the current time.
Do you think there should be an animated series or any sort of other tie-in produced with Kingdom Hearts III? Let us know in the comments!

Square Enix has recently chosen to pay homage to the Kingdom Hearts series in an interesting and humorous way. Within Final Fantasy XV, your party will come across many locked doors, and each character will typically have a few remarks about the situation. One of these exchanges is a reference to the Keyblade and its unique abilities. A video clip (courtesy of YouTube user Jaxtaroo) and a transcript of the conversation can be seen below. For those concerned about spoilers, the clip only includes the conversation, so there aren't any important story or gameplay details to skip through. We have, however, decided to put these pieces of information behind spoiler tags nonetheless.
Would you like Square Enix to make more references to Kingdom Hearts like this in the future? Let us know in the comments!

Square Enix has announced that Kingdom Hearts Unchained χ is coming to North America on April 7th, 2016. The game will be released on iOS and Android. In addition, a new Twitter account was made for the North American version of the game where they will release updates and news. You can follow this Twitter account here. The blog also includes a commemorative drawing from series director Tetsuya Nomura, as well as an interview about the game's ties to the series, both of which you can view below:
1) Please explain where in the KH series the story takes place.
This is the story of the “beginning” of the KINGDOM HEARTS series; in other words, it falls into the earliest part of the narrative. It takes place in the world of fairy tales talked about throughout the series, during an era before the Keyblade War. There are many different keyblade wielders in the world, and you, the player, are one of them.
2) How does Kingdom Hearts Unchained χ relate to the upcoming Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue?
All three titles within KINGDOM HEARTS Ⅱ.8 has a link to KINGDOM HEARTS Unchained χ in some way. You can see it most prominently shown in KINGDOM HEARTS χ Back Cover – a brand-new, approximately one-hour long cinematic piece, which is depicted from the perspective the Foretellers, who gather the Keyblade Wielders. On the flip side, KINGDOM HEARTS Unchained χ is seen from the player’s perspective. By watching KINGDOM HEARTS χ Back Cover, the player will be able to get a glimpse of what kind of motive these supposed leaders are operating under behind the scenes.
And in KINGDOM HEARTS Dream Drop Distance HD, which is the HD remastered version of the Nintendo 3DS game KINGDOM HEARTS 3D: Dream Drop Distance, you may noticed the Dream Eaters were a sort of foreshadowing. And the title that would act as a bridge between these two titles would be the latest installment in the series, KINGDOM HEARTS 0.2 Birth By Sleep, which is developed utilizing the technology behind KINGDOM HEARTSⅢ. It is a sequel to KINGDOM HEARTS: Birth By Sleep, and a short episode that follows immediately after the events of KINGDOM HEARTS Dream Drop Distance HD, but it’s a title in which players can get an early feel for KINGDOM HEARTSⅢ.
3) You mentioned this before at E3 2015, but what was the inspiration behind the character Chirithy?
When we realized we needed some kind of character that navigates the players due to the nature of the game, I didn’t want a character that’s too self-asserting considering that they would accompany the players throughout the journey. Once that idea got rolling, then I thought a cat would be great, since you can’t tell what it’s thinking, but can still get along fairly easily with humans, so I went with my favorite, the Scottish Fold as my motif.
I liked the Meow Wow from KINGDOM HEARTS 3D: Dream Drop Distance, too, but I designed the eyes the way I did to make sure you do not get a sense of it being self-asserting. Some people might have the wrong perception that because I own Scottish Fold cats, I modelled the character after them, but it’s actually the other way around; a while after we began developing, I started to own two Scottish Folds. By the way, their names are not Chirithy.
4) Aside from characters and world that appeared in the Kingdom Hearts series, what are some new characters and worlds that are unique only to Kingdom Hearts Unchained χ?
The game is currently progressing under a certain rule, so the only brand-new world would be “Daybreak Town,” the home town in which the players first start out, but there may be a possibility [of other worlds] should we continue providing service through the app.
In terms of new characters, there are not only the five Foretellers and Chirithy, but there are also key new characters named Ephemera and Skuld that appear and move the story.
5) What aspect of the game do you think will appeal to fans? What do you think fans will get hooked on? (i.e. collecting medals, events, etc.)
One of the biggest pillars would be the sense of playing live, which is very different for existing KINGDOM HEARTS series titles thus far. You may have communication and cooperation, as well as the occasional competition, but the sensation of going somewhere and realizing there are people there and the world is moving is very unique to this particular KINGDOM HEARTS.
Along those lines, various events are being held frequently depending on the occasion, the medal collection element is key to your battles, we also offer a ranking element, and a unique story told only in this KINGDOM HEARTS, so I’m sure there is some kind of element that would pique your interest.
6) What kind of costumes are included in the game? Is there a particular costume of a character that you particularly love?
There are so many different costumes already; of course you have the original designs, then Disney characters, KINGDOM HEARTS characters, and seasonal/special occasion designs, all for both male and female avatars respectively. Plus, you can mix and match the outfit elements, so I think the players can really bring out their individuality.
From what I’ve seen, the hairstyle of the KINGDOM HEARTS 3D: Dream Drop Distance version of “The World Ends with You” Neku matched up with the black coat of Organization XIII seem to be popular. Also, the KINGDOM HEARTS version of FINAL FANTASY VII Cloud costume and King Mickey’s costume are popular as well. If I were to choose, personally, I’d like the Cheshire Cat costume.
7) Do you have a special message for the fans?
As mentioned in the beginning, this is the story of the start of KINGDOM HEARTS. In other words, there is no need for any prior knowledge of the series.
I would love for people who have not yet played KINGDOM HEARTS to take this opportunity to casually jump right in with a blank slate. And of course for our fans, you can approach and play this KINGDOM HEARTS in any way you like, so through collecting medals of your favorite characters, collecting costumes, and moreover becoming a part of the KINGDOM HEARTS world and experiencing the enjoyment of weaving your own story that leads to one of the biggest mysteries in the series, which is the “Keyblade War,” I hope you can further enjoy the upcoming release of KINGDOM HEARTS Ⅱ.8 and KINGDOM HEARTS Ⅲ, as well as the KINGDOM HEARTS that will continue beyond that.
Thus far there has been no mention of when Kingdom Hearts Unchained χ will release in other regions. We will provide updates as soon as they become available.
Will you be downloading Kingdom Hearts Unchained χ? Let us know in the comments!

Less than a few hours ago, Seth Kearsley had stated in a post on his Twitter feed that he had exchanged emails and opened up a dialog that would allow him to pitch a do-over regarding a Kingdom Hearts animated television series.
Emails have been exchanged. Dialog has at least been started. Pitching a do-over with the current skill set. #kingdomhearts
No further details have been stated, though this is not the first time this particular animated Kingdom Hearts TV show had been proposed. For those who are unaware, Seth Kearsley had been approached shortly after Kingdom Hearts was released about creating an animated television series based off of it and this is a revival of that very same project, though whether or not it will have the same worlds, the same style or even the same game is uncertain.
UPDATE: According to Seth Kearsley's latest tweets, he is still not sure if Disney will allow this project or not, but the talks for it have already begun. He also mentioned that the project would be an anime developed by Mir Studios with the Disney characters in cartoon style and developed by an external studio and it would take place in an alternate timeline from the games, but following the overall plot from them. This project would be aired after Kingdom Hearts III releases, according to Seth Kearsley's answer on Twitter. Keep in mind, however, that these are just Seth's thoughts and expectations about the project; nothing has currently been set in stone.
What do you think about all of this? Are you excited about the prospect of a Kingdom Hearts animated series? Let us know in the comments below!

In an interview with WCCFTech following the release of Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV, movie director for Kingdom Hearts, Kingdom Hearts II and director of Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV, Takeshi Nozue, took the time to answer some questions. Interestingly enough, WCCFTech asks Nozue whether he'd consider directing a Kingdom Hearts CG Film in the future. Nozue says that if the audience wants it, he'd be happy to try it.
You can read his response below.
You’ve also worked on Kingdom Hearts and Kingdom Hearts II as the movie director. Would you like to direct an actual film based on Kingdom Hearts if such a project was greenlighted?
Answering the call of the audience matters more to me than working a particular franchise. Kingdom Hearts or not, if it’s something the fans want, I’m happy to give it a try.

Seth Kearsley is exploring the possibility of releasing the pilot animatic of the cancelled Kingdom Hearts cartoon
Former director and writer of the cancelled Kingdom Hearts cartoon, Seth Kearlsey, has stated that he is attempting to gain legal permission to reveal the pilot animatic. You can view his tweets below.
Originally Seth pitched the concept of an animated show (not specifically Kingdom Hearts) rather than making a movie due to it having a longer shelf life and a better opportunity for marketing. Seth's agent suggested Kingdom Hearts as it would mix both American cartoons and Japanese anime together. After completing the original Kingdom Hearts in a week he read the pilot for an Aladdin episode, Seth disliked this idea as Aladdin was already it's own animated TV show. Moreover, Seth took inspiration from the popular anime Cowboy Bebop due it airing on Cartoon Network at the same time he was writing the script for the Kingdom Hearts cartoon.
Around the 1:24:00 mark Seth discusses his attempt to gain legal permissions for the release of the pilot animatic. You can hear the full interview below.

Tetsuya Nomura, the director of the Kingdom Hearts series, has released a new official artwork to celebrate the series' 15th anniversary. This can be seen below.
Interesting notes and observations:
Comparing with previous images with Sora sitting on a throne, for the first time he is sitting with a different attire than from his original Kingdom Hearts one (this time it’s his Kingdom Hearts III outfit). His right leg is crossed over his left, just like in the Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX one. The crown is also rather different than in the previous instances, reminiscing an actual king’s.
Now let's check the hidden details from the artwork. You can notice all the blurry effects added to the image and the intentional placement of the anniversary date and number to hide what looks to be 3 paintings and another element:
· In the first painting (upper left corner), you see a mysterious figure smiling mischievously. Does this look familiar to you?
· Next, in the upper right corner, we have the most difficult painting to decipher.
· Then, in the third painting, we have this:
It has the clearest element from all three paintings: a musical note. Maybe just a tiny Easter Egg for the Kingdom Hearts Orchestra - World Tour - that we have been experiencing as a 15th Anniversary celebration?
· Finally, we can see Sora is holding an animal on his lap, one that resembles a canid. As an interesting note, next year is the Year of the Dog in the Chinese calendar.
Feel free to leave your speculation and other observations about what all this could mean in the comment section below!
