In the recent trailer of Kingdom Hearts III, we saw some of the magic and abilities that Sora, Donald, and Goofy have to offer. We're going to take a closer look to see what those abilities are!
As soon as the conversation between Young Xehanort and Young Eraqus ends, we see Sora climb over a ledge to continue forward. With a quick eye, you can see some sparkles right before Sora reaches the ledge. We can assume that this means Sora can't regularly jump over it, so he has to use a certain ability to get over it.
After encountering the new water-type Heartless in this world, we see Sora casting multiple Fire spells on the enemies and casting a large Fire spell after doing an air-combo. The Fire was most likely used as a Finisher.
With the battle between the flying Heartless enemies, Fire was used off-screen, so we can assume that it was Donald who used it.
When Sora and the group encounter the new Gladiator-type Heartless, it appears that Sora, Donald, and Goofy are using a Trinity version of the Goofy Charge, and they use it against the Heartless.
In the next scene, we see Sora running up a wall and heading toward the Rock Titan with rocks falling toward him. Sora is using the new ability called "free run".
Once Sora reaches the top of the cliff, Sora moves from the feet of the Rock Titan to the head area.
After an attack on the foot of the Titan, Sora summons the Big Magic Mountain attraction that we saw in the D23 Expo Japan trailer, and her starts to attack the Titan.
After Sora and the gang reach the Tangled world, with Sora donning his new clothes, they're faced against dandelion-like Heartless, and Sora uses an Aero spell as an offensive attack.
Soon after that, Sora uses a Keyblade Transformation and transforms his new Keyblade, which looks like the Keyblade many people saw at the Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMIX launch party, into the Two Shot Blaster, and then into a large cannon.
The next scene shows Sora once again using Aero spells, but moving at the same time.
Next, we see Sora summoning the Pirate Ship and defeating the Heartless in the world.
In Twilight Town, Sora uses Blizzard and slides on the trail it left, into a Blizzard jump-pad, and Sora comes down using the Two Shot Blaster and, we're assuming, Blizzard.
In the same scene, Sora bounces off the wall, where the covered up hole is, and attacks the Big Body similarly to how Sora attacks in Dream Drop Distance with Flowmotion.
Still in Twilight Town, Sora summons three giant Teacups, similar to the Mad Tea Party ride in the Magic Kingdom theme park, and Sora, Donald, and Goofy are inside of them spinning until they come together to use a Finish.
Lastly, Sora transforms his Keyblade, that seems to be obtained from the Hercules world, from a giant sword, to a shield, to chariot with Pegasus leading it while lightning strikes the enemies.

To continue on with our trailer analysis series, let's take a look at the chess pieces Young Xehanort and Young Eraqus are using in the Kingdom Hearts III E3 2015 trailer.
Each piece seems to have a symbol on the top, which we noticed could correspond to characters in the Kingdom Hearts series, more specifically, the seven lights and the thirteen darknesses. Thanks to Tumblr user freeshooterxig, some of these symbols have been depicted with their corresponding characters:
We also noticed that there are duplicates of the "Ansem, Seeker of Darkness" pieces - one to represent Ansem, and the other to possibly represent his Guardian. Also, we found two "Vanitas" pieces, possibly signifying Vanitas and the Vanitas Remnant.
KH13 user, PrinceNoctis, gives his analysis:
Another interesting thing to note is which pieces eliminate each other. It's hard for us to tell, but one move that is certain is the "Sora" piece eliminating one of the "Ansem, Seeker of Darkness"/"Guardian" pieces. If you can make out any other eliminations, let us know!
We would just like to clarify that this is based purely on speculation. However, it seems too perfect in our eyes. So, what do you think of all of this? Can you depict any symbols we missed? Sound off in the comments below!

Gameblog interviews Tetsuya Nomura, states that the development of Kingdom Hearts III is at a relatively advanced level
Gameblog, a French website was given the chance to interview Tetsuya Nomura, director of the Kingdom Hearts series. During the interview, Nomura discussed that the development of Kingdom Hearts III is at a relatively advanced level and that the development of Final Fantasy VII Remake will not effect the development of Kingdom Hearts III as they are being developed by two separate teams. You can view an unofficial translation of Nomura's answer regarding Kingdom Hearts III's development below thanks to KH13 user Sora-.
About the potential difficulties caused by his role as director of Kingdom Hearts III and Final Fantasy VII Remake, Tetsuya Nomura confirms that they won't impact each other. Both titles are being developed by two different teams that don't interfere with each other. The development of Kingdom Hearts III being at a relatively advanced level, and that of FFVII which began recently, Kingdom Hearts III won't monopolize all the attention of its creator.

Destructoid interviews Tetsuya Nomura, reveals that Drive Forms are being considered for Kingdom Hearts III
Destructoid was given the opportunity to interview Tetsuya Nomura and asked him a few questions concerning Kingdom Hearts III. The interview with Nomura revealed that the concept of Drive Forms are being considered to return in Kingdom Hearts III. Along with the concept of Drive Forms, Nomura was also asked about the possibility of certain Disney worlds making an appearance in Kingdom Hearts III. You can view the full interview below, with the questions asked and the response Nomura gave to them.
Mr. Nomura, I see that Sora is dressed in new duds. With your history of costume design, are we going to see changing outfits to go with form changes like in Kingdom Hearts II?
Nomura: Yes. Form changes are being considered to bring back. I have enjoyed making different designs for different abilities in the past.
What is the process like when deciding which Disney levels are going to be in the game? Does Disney often intervene to make sure you're utilizing certain properties?
Nomura: Disney sometimes does make suggestions, but the development staff has more sway over worlds and gameplay mechanics.
When KH began, Disney was a large pool to pool from, but now with the additions of the Star Wars and Marvel properties, it is goddamn huge. Has this made it difficult to parse between which franchises you would like to insert into the ever-expanding universe?
Nomura: The fact that we have to pick, and the difficulty associated with that, is something we have faced with each installment since the beginning. We pick more IPs than necessary and consult the schedule and feasibility of actually getting our designs to work. It’s been a repeating process.
Do you believe Drive Forms should return in Kingdom Hearts III? Let us know in the comments below!

Engadget has posted their interview with Tetsuya Nomura, as he discusses Disney worlds, gameplay, online multiplayer, and more. Nomura expresses his desire for online multiplayer and reveals that more worlds are prepared to be in Kingdom Hearts III than that of Kingdom Hearts II. Nomura also says core battle controls won't be vastly different than Kingdom Hearts II. You can read the full interview below.
The game's been teased for two years, so what's happening now with Kingdom Hearts 3?
Tetsuya Nomura: Compared to the initial first look at the game, in the trailer we're showing now, the visual aspects have evolved a lot. Not only the particle effects within the battles, but also the sheer scale of it. While the world may not be comparable to massively open-world titles, it's far bigger than previous Kingdom Hearts titles. There's a huge decrease in load times too. In previous games, you'd run to the end of an area and it would go dark before transitioning to the next stage -- now it's become seamless, as you can see in the trailer when Sora jumps off the mountain you've just battled up. The environments themselves, in KH3, things will be affected by real-time actions, a tornado spell will swirl the blades of grass surrounding it.
Given that the game is coming to PS4 and Xbox One, how are you tackling online?
TN: Online is certainly part of my wish list -- we want gamers to play for a while and an online component helps this. While we may be focusing on the main campaign at the moment, but it's not as if we're going to tack on an online function at the end. In fact, we've already got plenty of ideas brewing at the moment. However, we're still not at the point where we can test these ideas inside the main game.
Why didn't we see many Disney characters in the new game?
TN: Well, Donald and Goofy were there -- and we've announced that we're collaborating with Tangled, something we touched upon in our E3 presentation. Compared to previous titles that we folded into Kingdom Hearts, we have a lot of creators still alive. The process of gaining approvals then is pretty different. Because the animation studios are actively involved, we want to polish up anything we meet to the standards we demand, before taking it to Disney to approval. The hair of [Tangled's] Rapunzel is so unique -- we want to make sure we can realize the vision before we show it.
So how about Frozen?
TN: We're not saying anything on titles not yet announced.
Can we expect far more worlds in Kingdom Hearts 3?
TN: With every Kingdom Hearts title, we plan to deliver more worlds than actually appear in game -- so we have something in our pockets to work with. Then as we begin to hone these worlds and stages, and some do get cut. [At this point], we have prepared more worlds, in that respect, than Kingdom Hearts 2.
Any worlds that weren't realized in KH2?
TN: Man, KH2 was quite a while ago. ... Typically, worlds that we weren't able to put into a game are usually picked up again for work in the sequel. We prepare each stage, planning to include it in a game -- and we love the worlds we come up with.
Is anything going to change with how you play the game?
TN: Nothing's set in stone, although naturally, the PS4's controller has that touchpanel, and that's something we're going to have to consider within the control scheme. Coming from Kingdom Hearts 2, there won't be a huge difference in battle controls -- we're not going to change how you jump or anything -- it'll be more of an evolution. Depending on how we utilize the touchpanel, we may not need other forms of control [for certain actions].
Having said that, control preferences are different from person to person. Especially with cameras. We took an internal survey at Square Enix about this: and the result was an almost precise split, 50:50. We're going to have to look into this pretty carefully.

In an interview between Tetsuya Nomura and Gamesbeat, Gamesbeat was able to have the chance to talk to Nomura at E3 and discuss the possibility of a Star Wars world in Kingdom Hearts III. At first, they were told they were not allowed to talk about the matter, but eventually Nomura did mention some things about the subject.
[About Star Wars]
Of course, Disney Interactive and Square Enix [are the] publisher. They’re combining their forces to bring Kingdom Hearts. So, the other associated companies under Disney [are] not something that is as simple as us consulting with Disney Interactive. So, unfortunately, the lineup is kind of considered as different.
The licensing isn't exactly the easiest, according to Nomura. What he means is that both Disney Interactive and Square Enix both have to contact their mother company Disney and Lucasfilm for permission to use any of the characters and locations. It isn't as simple as just requesting Disney for their first party licenses. It was also said that it could also be more expensive requesting these licenses as well. Even so, Disney Interactive may not even have the rights to use them.
Since the big deal between Disney and Lucasfilm back in 2012, many fans of the Kingdom Hearts franchise have been debating about seeing the Star Wars series in Kingdom Hearts III. Do you believe Star Wars would make a great addition to the Kingdom Hearts series? Let us know in the comments below!

Kingdom Hearts III trailer analysis: Could the calendar in the background be hinting to a future date?
As we are all certainly aware, Square Enix shared new Kingdom Hearts III footage at their E3 2015 press conference yesterday. As the trailer floated around the internet and more fans watched it closely, multiple theories have come about concerning subtle hints that Tetsuya Nomura placed in the trailer. We're going to be exploring a few of these popular theories here.
First, one possible hint is the calendar seen near the end of the trailer:
The calendar in the background seems to depict a month where the first three days are a Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, and the month has 31 days total, also ending on a Saturday. After doing some very quick checking, it seems that there are a few months in the coming years with these same criteria:
As you can see, the next two months that match with this calendar are October 2015 and December 2016! What do you all think? Could this represent anything, or should we take this with a grain of salt? Let us know in the comments!

Nomura discusses the Kingdom Hearts III trailer with Dengeki, explains Attraction Flow & more about the conversation scene
In an interview with Dengeki Online, Tetsuya Nomura, the director of the Kingdom Hearts series, has shared more details about the opening scene of the Kingdom Hearts III E3 2015 trailer with Young Xehanort and Young Eraqus. Nomura explained that their conversation helps connect to the story of Kingdom Hearts Unchained χ. He also explained that their conversation is much longer in the full scene, but that this small part was extracted for the trailer.
You can view a full translation of Nomura's answers from the interview below, thanks to Siliconera!
[About Attraction Flow]
That is called the ‘Attraction Flow,’ and it’s one of the featured elements of the game. After meeting certain requirements, you’ll get the option to activate it, and as far as visuals go, it’s pretty elaborate. As a matter of fact, the UI shown in the trailer is a temporary one, and once you actually get to use the Attraction Flow, it will also change the UI while active.
Also, as far as ledges, elevation differences, and slopes go, Sora’s actions will automatically change as part of the introduction of the “Free Run” feature, which will give it a more dynamic sense of action
[About the conversation between Eraqus and Xehanort]
Yes, that is [the opening scene for Kingdom Hearts III]. The game will start with the conversation between the two,” says Nomura. “It’s actually a much longer conversation scene, but we’ve extracted that part to show in the trailer. As you may have noticed from seeing them, it’s a scene that takes place a very long time ago, and that’s where the story of Kingdom Hearts Unchained X[chi] connects [with the game].

After showing the trailer for Kingdom Hearts Unchained X, Shinji Hasimoto (executive producer of Kingdom Hearts series) says [according to translator] “Ok moving along; I’d like to discuss the title I think we’ve all been waiting for! Kingdom Hearts III!” The KHIII logo, Donald, Goofy and Sora in his new black and red outfit appear on the screen behind him. “But rather than having me talk about it, I thought it’d be much better if we watched actual footage of the game!”
Gregg Holman (Vice President of Worldwide Marketing and Franchise Management) and Roy Conli (Disney producer of Treasure Planet, Tangled, Big Hero 6 and more) announced to fans firstly that Tangled will be incorporated into Kingdom Hearts III before Hasimto says [according to translator] “So without any further ado, here’s the world premier of the latest footage from Kingdom Hearts III!” Then the Kingdom Hearts III trailer began…
CABLE TOWN LIBRARY/STUDY
The trailer fades from black to show a large window at the centre which has curtains flowing from the breeze and soft lighting which is realistic as it glows into the room from outside (the same room that featured in the teaser at the HD 2.5 ReMIX launch events in North America and Europe). It pans down to show Young Xehanort and young Eraqus playing chess while having a conversation; the same conversation which was revealed in the teaser message at last year’s E3 but this time with the English voice actors! Below is what they said:
Young Xehanort: Have you heard of the ancient Keyblade War?
Young Eraqus: Yeah; the master’s favourite story!
Young Xehanort: So…you know the lost masters? They’re the ones who started the Keyblade War?
Young Eraqus: Never heard of them.
Young Xehanort: You can drop the facade!
Cuts to Sora is in his KHII outfit (even after the new outfit was revealed) running and jumping through some sunlit mountain scenery and comes across water themed Heartless (using bubbles and rainclouds for attacks).
There are some olympic pillars, trees and statues which have the disney drawing style of the Hercules film, so was fair to assume at this stage that Sora was in the world of Hercules. Later there are Heartless (looking like flying monkeys and bulls) which seem to have ‘clothing’ resembling to the ‘Hercules’ style and then the Rock Titan appears making it more evident that this is the Hercules world. Meanwhile Sora is fighting with Keyblade, using fire spells, and at one point Sora, Donald and Goofy combine to perform a charging attack with Goofy’s shield at the front which turns fiery as they impact the Heartless.
In the 2013 D23 Expo trailer, the Rock Titan and general mountain surroundings were featured (so we already knew about this film’s incorporation), but now we have more insight as to what the Hercules world would look like (the resemblance to the disney style, the massive scale of the world/enemies and effects of the Unreal Engine 4! When the Rock Titan is attacking, Sora runs up an almost vertical mountain side while dodging rocks being thrown. It cuts to Sora at the Titan’s foot when a luminous blue light surrounds Sora as he jumps up the Rock Titan (almost like Flowmotion in Dream Drop Distance). It cuts to Sora hitting the Titan’s foot with the Keyblade making the foot ‘crack’ to show lava. Sora then lifts his Keyblade up to summon a luminous steam-train; the same one we seen in D23 Expo traileragain, but this time with more detail/colour on the train and more realistic gameplay (targeting and hitting through the Titan’s hand).
We then see Sora walk from a cave with Donald and Goofy in his new outfit which is mainly black and red (if it’s like a drive form or his permanent outfit we are not sure as the KHII outfit appeared as well). It then cuts to show Sora looking at Rapunzel’s tower confirming the fact that a world based on “Tangled” will be in KHIII! This is the first time a world based on a 3D animated film, has been incorporated in the Kingdom Hearts franchise and looks almost identical to film.
Flower-like Heartless then start to appear, one of which acts like a dandelion to create more small heartless. Sora uses a wind like spell and jumps into the air splitting his Keyblade in two and transforming it into guns (seen in the 2013 D23 Expo and HD 2.5 ReMIX launch event trailers) firing blue beams at the Heartless. It then transforms into a massive gun, shooting multiple shots in the one go and finishing with a large shot.
Sora then raises his Keyblade to perform the same movement like the steam-train summon; this looks like how Sora will usually do these special moves. This time he jumps in the air, falls through the ground like water and then a pirate ship (like in D23 Expo trailer) splashes out of the ground spinning to destroy the Heartless. It is also looks more vibrant and colourful, but only last a few seconds and disappears into shimmers of light.
We then cut to Sora, Donald and Goofy running through Twilight Town where the hole which leads to the Mansion is (like in the E3 2013 and 2013 D23 Expo trailer). Sora performs a Blizzard spell at Shadows, Soldiers and Large Body Heartless (from the first Kingdom Hearts game) then jumps in the air and spirals down (with blue light twirling around) onto the Heartless. Sora bounces off the wall and twirls round Heartless (like Flowmotion in Dream Drop Distance).
Sora once again raises his Keyblade and summons three luminous tee-cups for him, Donald and Goofy to spin in while hitting the Heartless. The three then combine and twirl around together to perform a final attack. Sora transforms his Keyblade into an orange and yellow weapon with lightning coming from it. It then twirls about and transforms into a white pegasus and chariot throwing out lightning bolts at the Heartless as it rides about in mid-air. Perhaps this is a summon acquired from Hercules’ world (like Genie from Agrabah)
CABLE TOWN LIBRARY/STUDY
We then cut back to Xehanort and Eraqus continuing their game of chess and their conversation. Meanwhile we see a fireplace with the Keyblade mounted on the wall above it when young Xehanort looks at it; this Keyblade is used by Master Xehanort in Birth by Sleep and Dream Drop Distance, and in the secret ending of HD 2.5 ReMIX young Xehanort says to Braig, “But of all the Keyblades in existence, Master Xehanort's is the most ancient.” We then see Xehanort and Eraqus’ faces as they talk and it ends by showing a white and black chess piece next to each other signifying the two sides; light and dark. The final dialogue is below:
The Kingdom Hearts III logo appears, followed by “Now in Development” to conclude the trailer! Hasimoto said afterwards, “So what do you think?”
Young Xehanort: On that land shall darkness prevail and light expire. The future; it’s already been written!
Young Eraqus: Who’s to say I can’t change it? And maybe light will prevail. There is more to light that meets the eye. You might be surprised.
Young Xehanort: Oh I hope so.
What do you think of the Unreal Engine 4 graphics? Now that Hercules, Twilight Town and Tangled are confirmed, what other worlds do you think will be in KHIII? What do you think of young Xehanort and young Eraqus? What did you like the best: flowmotion, enhanced magic, new outfit, disney attraction summons/other summons, or Keybalde transformations? What are your analysis’s of the trailer? Write your comments below or analysis’s in the creative media section and possibly get featured on the KH13 Community Twitter Page!

That being said, the true nature of KINGDOM HEARTS III is still to come, so please stay tuned for further information.
Also, we just made the announcement that KINGDOM HEARTS χ [chi], a PC browser game that was previously only available in Japan, will be coming to North America as KINGDOM HEARTS Unchained χ.

Square Enix Europe has reuploaded the Kingdom Hearts III logo to their European press site, only days before E3 2015. Along with the Kingdom Hearts III logo, Square Enix also uploaded the Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, Dragon Quest Heroes: The World Tree's Woe and the Blight Below, Final Fantasy XIV: Heavensward, Just Cause 3, and Life is Strange logos on June 12, 2015.
This is interesting because all of these games are already confirmed to appear at E3 2015 this week. It seems to hint that Kingdom Hearts III may make an appearance alongside them, especially considering Square Enix France's earlier hints at Kingdom Hearts III – although nothing is confirmed. Stay tuned for E3 2015, where we'll find out for sure.

Over the past several days the official Square Enix France Facebook page have made several posts that use the official Kingdom Hearts III tag. You can read an unofficial translation of these posts along with screenshots of the original posts below.
Donald, Goofy and Sora ... What is your best memory of the series? What is your level of expectation regarding the very next Kingdom Hearts III?
Relive the magic of Kingdom Hearts!
Square Enix France last year teased international releases of Final Fantasy Type-0 and Final Fantasy Agito via Twitter which ended up being announced at E3 2014. With E3 coming up next month and the recent hints made by Square Enix France along with the hint that was made by Square Enix Germany, do you think something big within the Kingdom Hearts series will happen at E3?

Interview with Tetsuya Nomura explains a connection between Kingdom Hearts Unchained χ and Kingdom Hearts III
In an interview with Famitsu Weekly, Tetsuya Nomura, the director of the Kingdom Hearts series has revealed that the story of Kingdom Hearts Unchained χ will connect with the story of Kingdom Hearts III. You can read a translation of the interview below thanks to misomilk on Tumblr.
— In terms of story, since KHX was released first, KH Unchained X will simply do catching up, right?
Nomura: Yes. Just that, KHX’s story will continue moving, so it will take quite some for Unchained X to catch up.
—We look forward to how KH Unchained X’s story links to KHIII.
Nomura: That’s right. It’s connected to KHIII. It’s the oldest of tales in the series. Sora and co haven’t even been born yet.......................... The events [in these two games] happen at a time far long past. Regarding a new keyword related to KHIII, if you play KHX and KH Un X it might make you go “Oh?” We keep thinking of ways in order to make players think “I’m glad I played this”.
— So this keyword is significantly related to KHIII.
Nomura: If I explain that, I’ll have to touch on KHIII’s story, so… (bitterly laughs). I’ll say what I can without spoiling anything. KHX’s main story doesn’t reach KHIII’s timeline, but there are some pieces you pick up, and those pieces will be what pushes the plot forward from here onwards. Either way, experiencing the story you’ve gone through KHX in KH Un X again will—
— Again? You said earlier you want players to “get the sense of being in the same world,” but had that implied that “KHX” and “KH Unchained X” are different worlds?
Nomura: I do wonder (laughs). An upcoming KHX story might give you the hint. We’ve set up KHX’s story to deliver it powerfully, so please look forward to the story’s progression from here forward. Now, KH Un X’s story is fundamentally the same as KHX’s, of course, but since they are two games, we’re setting up ways so you’d like to play both.

We've found an Al Engineer that has been working on Kingdom Hearts III since October 2014. Eric Johnson, now living in Tokyo, Japan has an impressive resume to his name. Before Kingdom Hearts III he worked on worked on KIXEYE's War Commander as a Senior AI Engineer between July 2013 and August 2014. Before that he worked as an AI Engineer on Star Wars 1313, the final game in development at LucasArts when George Lucas sold his company to Disney. An India-based artist named Praveen Dubey has listed Character Modelling & Texturing for Kingdom Hearts III on their resume. Praveen Dubey works for Lakshya Digital, an India-based company that specializes in outsourced asset development. It is likely, Lakshya Digital has been contracted by Square Enix to develop some assets for Kingdom Hearts III.
Praveen Dubey and Lakshya Digital have recently worked on a few major titles including Dark Souls 2 and Tekken 7.
Outsourcing is completely normal for Square Enix as their other new console titles have all been at least partly outsourced after they experienced development issues with Final Fantasy XIII. It's also a great change of pace after both Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX & Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMIX were fully developed by the Kingdom Hearts team only.
Thanks go to @Obsqura for the tip and NeoGAF user qualitydisc for the find.
You can view Praveen Dubey's listing of Kingdom Hearts III along with their skills and software they're proficient with on their resume below.

As of today, Leonard Nimoy (Master Xehanort's English voice actor) has died at age 83 from Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) in Bel Air, Los Angeles, California.
For those of you who don't know, he was born on March 26, 1931 in Boston, Massachusetts. He began his career in his twenties, teaching acting classes in Hollywood and making brief TV and Film appearances. Leonard Nimoy was perhaps best known to the public and Sci-Fi fans as Spock from Star Trek.
Many Kingdom Hearts fans were hoping to see him reprise his role as Master Xehanort in the upcoming Kingdom Hearts III, but sadly it was not meant to be. His final tweet said "A life is like a garden. Perfect moments can be had, but not preserved, except in memory. LLAP" He will be missed. Live long and prosper.
